'13 AZ WR Elroy Masters

Maybe he thinks CU has no talent at WR and needs to get a lot of bodies in there. I know I thought that all season long.

There's not a lot but when the coaches keep sending McCulloch deep it amplifies it. The offense had very little easy completions.

I can't find a pipeline angle, either. Sunrise Mountain is not a powerhouse program. There are no other recruits at that school in the 2013, 2014 or 2015 classes that appear on the recruiting services radar. Masters was 1st Team All-Conference, but I can't see why we're going after him other than our class is transitional and pretty crappy.

I watched his film before anything and I'm surprised to see he isn't ranked at WR by Rivals. Late bloomer? He shows great qualities for a WR. Strong hands and takes the ball at the highest point. SPEED. Break tackle ability. Plus size.

Outside of PRich, I don't think we had a WR on the roster this year capable of Elroy's 1st highlight.

I like what I'm seeing, I'm sure there is reason for the offer.

Looks similar to Nelson Spruce to me. Probably not a game changer, but a solid receiver.

I sure hope this means we're going to see some attrition at WR if we're going to take 4 this cycle..

This attitude has gotten us in big trouble. I understand "beggars can't be choosers," but we really have been throwing numbers at a talent issue for way too long.

I understand what you are saying but when you are running out receivers like McCulloch, Canty, etc.....Masters might be an upgrade.

This attitude comes off as "I am smarter than HCMM".
I think analyzing this stuff is dumb. If he has a few guys he knows that can make us better, then next question please.

Bottom line is that SJSU has more than a couple PAC12 QUALITY players

I take it you are suggesting no one can ever have an opinion on this site?

As far as guys like McCulloch, he is the prime example of what goes wrong when you get a guy, not the right guy. Just about every single scholarship matters for this team now.

Gee Whiz you made me laugh and I spit my coffee on my keyboard...fans on this site have been criticizing the coaches choices on recruits for as long as I have been here. I am pretty sure that includes you.

SJSU has way more playmakers at WR than Colorado so I will trust their judgement. BCS offers or not.

Good chance the OC has some insight on an AZ kid.

PLUS, McCullough isn't the problem. The fact he started as a true freshman is telling. I have been saying we haven't had enough WRs here since Gary was the coach.

McCulloch is an example of throwing things at a wall and expecting them to stick along with the fact the coaches kept sending him deep which tells me we have no freaking idea what we have because the old staff didn't utilize them to their strengths.

I don't get the McCulloch (correct spelling by the way) hate. The kid is not a star, he isn't a blazer, he isn't a highlight reel guy. He is a guy who used correctly I think could be a quality contributor on a quality team.

Don't blame him for the coaches sending him deep, also don't blame him for not being a guy who can stretch the field. Last year the only guy we had who arguably could have been that was GT and they didn't do that with him.

I want to see what McCulloch can do with a healthy PRich out there to draw attention and stretch the field. I want to see what he can do with a coach that runs an actual college offense that uses the talent available in an effective way.

McCulloch wasn't a highly rated recruit but he is actually more effective than a lot of the other guys that have been signed in recent years. If you don't like how he is used blame the coaches not the kid who is out there busting his butt.

The real problem is not with the guys who have been at least contributors, it has been with the huge number of guys who either never stuck around long enough to contribute or who don't even get on the field because they simply aren't good enough.

This exactly. McCulloch was known to the staff due to camping here. Did they think he would be the next All-American? I suspect they like this guy who has a lot more interest than some of the guys JE had lined up.

Our WR talent is well behind many non BCS schools.

He's playing against really subpar competition. He brings some good qualities to the table, but speed is not one of them.

I'm not saying he has GT type speed, but I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't mid 4.5. That's good for a 6'3 kid.

Problem is Masters is another McCulloch (seemingly) and we need speed, not more possession receivers.
