Have we repaid the 5th down karma yet?

Seems to me we haven't been the beneficiary of too much good fortune since then. Does this finally repay that debt?

We won a conference championship last year. Life really isn't that bad.

Thank you.

Plus, let's look at Tad's history with the team. When do the Buffs play best? When they feel disrespected/challenged. Does anyone expect that to change? This may be the gigantic kick in the ass that this team needed. At any time if the team starts slacking, I hope Tad brings this up.

This may be the best thing that happens to the team.

Hopefully it will inspire the team to practice free throws extensively after a hard practice. Practicing free throws when you're fresh doesn't do much good ... the ones you have to hit in games happen at the end when you're gassed.

Honestly, I'm sure they are already doing everything they can to improve the free throw shooting. It's one of those things that you can practice all you want, but making them in a game is a completely different story.... they just need to get past that "mental block" they have at the line right now.

By all that is bestowed upon me, I declare the curse paid in full. Feel better?

You might run that by the Mizzou fans first. I sat next to them during a game in the early 2000's and they were still bitter and shouting at us about it.

I wish we would have gotten a free throw coach in here for a few days instead of the boot camp guy.

Yeah, SEALS suck at free throwing. Unless its a knife or hand grenade or something. And hand grenades don't have to be right on the money.

There should be no negative karma from the 5th down. We would never have spiked the ball on 4th down. Only did it because it was understood to be 3rd down.

We did not have a 5th down for Christ sakes!

We had an EXTRA spiked ball.

Plus, Mizzou doctored the field which cost us at least 7 TD's.

I read about this years ago so I know you are right but I don't remember why. I wasn't a member at that time and I need to boomerang some horse**** back to a Missou fan. What exactly did they do?

Sanded the field or something so our guys were slipping all over the place.

This fact seems to be lost on a lot of people. Can't knock us for adhering to what the official down marker says.

To me there is no karma for the Mizzou game. We were robbed before that in the Illinois game when they got away with an obvious offsides on a 3rd and 4 which caused us to punt resulting in their winning drive. Had that offsides been called we would have run the clock out.

And yes the field at Mizzou was tainted. Plus they told us to bring the wrong type of shoes for the game.

This repaid the karma?!? How about the last 7 years of football.

I'm hoping that this was the last little bit that needed to be repaid, 'cause yeah - the last seven years of football has been like a kick to the groin.

I'm not saying we were to blame for the fiasco in Missouri, simply that we were the beneficiary of some unbelievable luck. Who gets five downs? We do.

If we had benefited from unbelievable luck, Missouri would have put sand on the field and they wouldn't have been able to use cleats with longer spikes while we were ****ed since we used normal cleats.

The Missouri field was sand based. According to the manufacturer, it was supposed be watered before a game, which is what they normally did. But for the CU game, they knew we had a lot of speed and liked to get outside and cut it up the field. During the game, every time we tried to cut, our guy fell down. It was a nightmare.

And, of course, if we'd know it was 4th down, we would not have spiked the ball. At least some of our staff thought the first play in the series had been called off by the refs. Or something like that.

Dammit, people. This isn't about re-igniting the events of that day. It's about whether we are back on the right side of the karma ledger.

OK! I get it! YES! Our karma scale has gone as far down as it can go. Nothing but up from here.
