The silence from Boulder is messing with my head

Don't know what it is. Maybe PTSD after 7 years of suckitude. But it bugs me that we haven't heard from MM in weeks. That there was a poorly and curiously timed press release announcing a partial new staff, no news on the recruiting front, and just frustrating rumors regarding facility improvements. Talk me off the ledge because I am quickly developing negative feelings about this staff and what is going on in Boulder.

Understand the feelings - personally I just think to myself, this is Colorado football, what else can you expect? and some things just never change:huh:

BTW - our basketball team got robbed last night

you seen it... should not have come down to a last second shot, but it did and CU took care of business...only to get the shot waved off

The only news being posted by AD's at this point is bad news and hirings. It's bowl season, it's dead period and it's always like this. HCMM evidently needs to hire a few more coaches from the outside. That's always a slower process as there is a lot of guys being freed up right now at the NFL level and a lot of guys that have multiple irons in the fire.

The big news has already been released. We have the core of a staff and they are working on recruiting. I am sure they are watching film and assessing what it is they have.

This is the time of year we all watch the High School all star games to see which guys will put on the hats of the top programs that are also playing in the BCS bowls. I'm thinking we may not be involved in that for awhile.

Patience young DBT.... patience. ;)

1. Staff - core group in place. Looking to fill out a few remaining spots. There was more coaching turnover this year than typically, so I think the number of availabilities is slowing the process down as many qualified people may have multiple offers.

2. Recruiting - coach can't comment on recruits, and it's a dead period. Behind the scenes, I'm sure the core staff already hired is building their recruiting board. Having Hagan stay on as director of player personnel (or whaterver title) is helpful to merge the existing CU targets with those players already identified by MacIntyre while at SJSU. The fact that the staff already knows California really well will also be hugely helpful in building this transition class. We have already heard that former CU prospects like LB Egu (Cal commit) may be coming to check out Boulder, so the coaching change is having its intended effect. Hopefully, we'll flip some of these commits if they give us a 2nd look.

3. Facilities - Totally understand the frustration, but what else can be said? The AD has stated that they will make improvements, but the level of the improvements depends on the level of donations. I think the AD is sort of in a pickle. They could use the PAC money and do limited renovations immediately, or continue to press fundraising in hopes of doing the full monty. At some point, we need to call it a day, but right now I am in favor of being patient for a bit longer in hopes that a major donation rolls in so we can really build something to set the program up for consistent success.

Ya it's been pretty quiet. Hopefully we'll get more newspaper articles on the assistants

Your instincts on anything football related are almost always dead wrong.

Anything else?

I'm still waiting for the so-called commitment to football... Probably going to be a very long wait.

I'm not sure why some people feel entitled to every single tiny update out of the CUAD. Mike Mac's job is to run the football program and win games. He doesn't need to share who he is interviewing, or what is going on until he is ready or unless he wants to. This TMZ attitude is kind of annoying honestly.

Maybe silence is really a good thing. I think there's too much given out by the AD as far as what were planning on doing. either they should announce they have finalized something, or keep it unsaid.

Go play tennis or something.

The silence from Boulder is fine. Coaches can do their jobs and not worry about the immediate gratification desires of fans.
