What hs level is La Marque?

The beginning of the highlight vids were kinda underwhelming. As the film progressed, I noticed that he seems to have quick feet, a high motor, and relentless pursuit. He also seems to use his hands and upper body well.

So it begs the question -- is this at a lower hs level or is he going against some of the upper crust competition in tejass hs football?

La Marque is 3A, so mid-level for Texas football. That said, they are a perennial powerhouse.

His youtube video lists him at 6'2 228 with a 4.6 40, so I hope that's more accurate than the 6'1 210.

I think 3 is the same level as Aledo where current UT super back Johnathan Gray came from. 3A is some very competitive ball down in Tejas with some very good players.
And FW is right they have a great tradition.

3a ball in Texas is like BIG boy ball in most states. Earl Campbell came from like 8 man ball btw. I say, if he wants to come be a Buff, then bring it on. CU needs kids that want to be here 1st. then start winning and more will follow.

Aledo is 4A but at the upper levels there is serious competition. As with most states everything below the top classification is pretty top-heavy for competition but the best 4A and 3A schools would be deep playoff teams in most states.

La Marque was 4A for a long time and in the most recent realignment were dropped to 3A with a new enrollment cutoff set by the state athletic governing body. LMHS had been ranked #1 or 2 in the state for some of the last year and fell in the playoffs to the eventual 3A state champion.

He does look closer to 230 than 210. Who knows on height.

His highlight film started out awfully slow and I almost turned it off, but it really picked up and he made some impressive plays. I like his acceleration up the field and ability to get off of blocks. I can see him becoming a solid D1 player.

One of my sisters teaches at aledo. They are 4a as corrected above. Just for reference, aledo has 4 teams....varsity back orange and freshman. So now u can appreciate texas football a little more.

One of these is not like the others (not counting the Colorado.) From his offer list he looks like a mid-major level prospect. I wonder how serious the TT offer is and if it is a legit offer why a Texas kid who has said he wants to stay in Texas didn't take it.

Underweight and his frame doesn't look like a guy who is likely to blow up.

If he comes I hope I am wrong but he looks very much like a Hawkins/Embree type of recruit. Good kid with some decent skills but he will have to have some significant development that isn't in any way certain to play at this level.
