Chances CU wins another National Championship?

It is possible and I think we can get competitive again but it is going to take a decade of building like it did last time.
 
Extremely unlikely CU ever wins the national championship. But I was a fan in the 80's and in 1983 it seemed absolutely no way CU could compete with Oklahoma and Nebraska (much less winning a national title) and you know what happened 7 years later.
 
We'll never win another one. Ever. On the other hand, we could win one every year, forever. It's tough to say. Dumber to speculate in absolutes.
 
We'll have a shot when the Special Ed Conference makes its players be literate and actually attend class. Until then, we're playing two completely different games.
 
Possible, but extremely unlikely. Once you are competing for conference championships you are competing for the MNC as well. Have to worry about being competitive in our conference before I can even fathom talking about a MNC.

At a minimum here's what you need:
1. The ability to sign 30 guys a year. It's nice to have "mulligans."
2. Be in a state that produces ridiculous talent.
3. Be able to drop players that don't produce and not have it burn bridges. 'Bama could drop a guy from a Bama HS and people would just think that he wasn't good enough. CU does that and you aren't going to recruit at that high school anymore until you get a new coach.
4. Good enough facilities. Doesn't have to be gold-everything, but has to be nice enough.
5. A community that is willing to look past the indiscretions of some of the behavior of some of the players on the team, whether they are starters or bench warmers.
6. An admin that enables a coach to recruit anyone and have an easy way to continue eligibility (e.g. joke majors)
7. An admin that is willing to pay 4MM+ for a HC.

Edit: Doesn't hurt to have at a minimum 80K fans for a game. You don't need this, but Stanford and Oregon are the only teams that are dominant right now that don't meet that criteria. Autzen is still a great place to call your home, even if it only seats 50K.

Holy crap, first of all we were the laughingstock of CFB back in the early 80's. Most of you are too young, but trust me, we were a complete joke and look what we accomplished a few years later. I know the landscape has changed, blah, blah, blah, but to write it off completely is a mistake. In fact I question the loyalty of any Buff that completely discounts this possibility.
 
It's possible, but it almost seems like we would be better off with another Heisman winner from a cash stand point
 
At least a playoff system could give us a fighting chance. This whole SEC dominance is just getting on my nerves because I don't believe most of them play by the same "rules" as the rest. I blame the NCAA for that.

After thinking it over, I don't believe CU is willing to do what it would take to win a MNC. They will be perfectly happy with contending for a conference title every 4-5 years. Frankly, so am I.

Really? Do you believe Urban Meyer, Lane Kiffin, and Chip Kelly don't do everything they can possibly do to be successful? It's just better football players as proven for 7 straight years.
