We are having this debate in Barzil so I thought I should bring it to the masses for a vote.

Personally I voted for are you crazy. Love what he could do in the return game but love more what he can do for our offense. We have seen the night and day difference when he is lining up as a healthy WR and when he is playing hurt or not on the field.

We must have someone GT, DD, etc. who could be a good PR for us.

The PRICH injury prone issue is just not an argument you can use in football. Pretty soon you can't have your best guys practicing as they may get hurt. That always fails and you just end up getting your arses kicked.

PRich's injuries have not occurred on punt returns, nor from contact. I believe last year it happened in a non-contact drill.

So, that logic would suggest that PRich should not participate in non-contact drills...

He should get the ball in space. PR has the fair catch provision to protect him. Plenty of guys have returned punts their whole career without suffering a major injury.

I'm all for PR, but not so much KR, because I don't think his skills are as valuable there.

Most ACL tears are not because of contact, but are non-contact and usually related to cutting.

I voted for PRich, but only if he's mentally ready. PR is a scary position. I'm fine with it if the coaches are. It's their asses on the line and not mine so I'm assuming they know what they are doing.

This question is so simple it hurts. The answer is: Does it help us win? If the answer is yes, then he should return punts. Everything else is meaningless.

Fair enough but I would argue that his ability to make cuts on the fly is what makes him attractive to HCMM as a PR. So I do think it increases PRich´s exposure.

I'm not convinced he's our best option at PR. He's a spectacular wide receiver, but I'm not convinced he's a great punt returner.

No doubt.

Not only is he our most explosive player, he's the guy I most trust back there.

And if you play scared, you've already lost.

100% agree
If the best players aren't on the field all the time this staff will fail like the last 2

Yes. Not even a question in my mind.

One time in the last seven years we have been in the top half of our conference in punt returns. It also happened to coincide with our only bowl berth. With kickoff returns less of a part of the college game, especially with so many of our games at altitude, punt returns need to be a focus.

The best teams have the best players on the field most of the time. Injuries happen. If the game is a blowout either way, then of course not. Otherwise, you have to give your team the best chance it has to win.

True, but how many punts are typically returned per game? 3? 4? That's a couple of cuts more than he would be doing anyway, but not a lot. If he's up to it and the coaches want him back there I can't wait to see some explosiveness and elusiveness back there.

I voted no and for a simple reason, I think Crawley should. He showed flashes last year, we have depth at his spot (compared to WR), and with some more consistent coaching I think KC can get you 9/10ths or more of what PRich can at that spot

In video games you want the fastest guy. Not the same easy decision in real life.

in his limited catches last year, he seemed to have some pretty good vision in the open field, when he could get there. Seems to have decent hands. Has great speed. Where is the downside?

I like Gerald Thomas' potential, but punt returner is not an ideal spot for him.

G.Thomas has good hands? What games are you watching?

The guy had a case of the dropsies for most of last year. He was thinking too much. I'm sure he'll be fine this year and in the upcoming years, but you want someone who is known with good hands there. Maybe after PRich graduates/leaves.
