Thank you to Rumblin and TZiskin. The size looks legit and he's got a solid skill level for a big. He's not the most explosive athlete off the floor, but he's not Josh Scott either. It does look like it takes him awhile to get his shot off, but as long as it goes in...

I just saw this and posted on Rivals.

Finally.

And worth the wait.

More athletic than I expected and he's going to be a shooter too.

the only physical limitation I saw with his game was his vertical - otherwise he's super energetic with a lot of bounce. and he's 6'8"! may he get to 6'10"!

For being 6'8" I would expect him to play above the rim more. Good quickness, decent handles for a big man but he is going to have to learn to elevate on his jump shot.

In all honesty, the jump shot really doesn't bother me. He's not going to be Levi, running off of screens and shooting with a small window. I'd expect a lot more of the Dufault/Roberson wide open looks when the big man slips outside. He'll knock those down.

Yep. And I didn't expect to see that crossover or the ability to jump stop to avoid the charge and hit the short pull-up in the lane. He's everything I was hoping he'd be and more. I'm really fired up about DT.

It would be nice to have some one who shoots 45+% from 3. And those were some deeeeep three.

Agreed. The ball handling really surprised me. I think we all had high expectations of our unknown prospect, but you're right, we may have underrated his versatility. And if he isn't done growing, as Snow mentions, the kid could be a star. He does have a pretty mature body though.

Actually the more I think about it, the more interesting he gets. He plays facing the basket and is 6'8". So he has a lot of potential for mismatches if he can learn to slide inside when a smaller guy is on him or outside when a bigger player is. Sounds like the player we wanted Dufault to be for us. I hope we don't have him playing the 4/5 and he struggles for a few years.

One thing I noticed on the vids is that he seems to have very good awareness. If he catches an entry pass down low, he went straight up to shoot, except for a few clips where he saw or sensed the defender and either faked or double clutched, and then shot.

I think CTB has landed a somewhat underrated scoring threat.

He looked a little bit like Shabazz did. Not as explosive but he does have the smooth part down pat. Also looks like he is bigger than last year.

Copeland is a very good comparison actually.

I like his size and length. Great stroke from deep. He will immediately be one of our best shooters on the team from day 1. He doesn't have the best jumping ability, but he can do some many other things well. In addition, as others have said, he can play the 3/4, and he will be a mismatch for both positions.

Our 2013 recruiting reclass looks like it will have more contributors than the 2012 class because all of these guys can play.

Our bench problems this year won't be happening next year with three new players and two reshirts joining our current guys and losing only one player guaranteed (Chen). I hope Roberson stays one more year.

If Roberson stays I think we'll be over the scholarship limit and someone would have to sacrifice.

As far as DT goes, his body looks like he's ready to bang down low for rebounds already. And wow does he have a great looking shot and some decent handles! He's going to be a nightmare for other PF's.

I'm liking the way next years roster is shaping up with Scott and Gordon holding it down in the trenches with XJ, Tre, and DT playing the hybrid 3/4. Going to be a very versitile lineup. But with that said, I can see Tre or DT redshirting.

based on the short video I saw, he seems to play at the perimeter and gets most of his points through jumpers or slashing to the basket. I would guess he gets his rebounds by being much bigger than the guy guarding him or he is much quicker. I just don't see him being a guy who bangs away in the post and pulls down boards.

Good all around game offensively. Already better than Andre Roberson offensively. Excellent re bounder can play inside and outside. impressed that he can shoot the 3 ball as a big man. Could play the 3 in the NBA if he makes it to the league, the 4 in College. Good looking player.

So, from what I can tell, Pleasant Grove lost two games last week and may have been eliminated from the state playoffs. In the first of the two, Thomas scored 23, but in the second game, he only scored 7 (as a team, Pleasant Grove scored 30). Their opponents started to intentionally hold the ball for long stretches to take PG out of their rhythm, and in that last game, it sounds like they held it for almost half of the second quarter.

He looks more physically solid in this video than in some of his earlier stuff. What is his current height/weight. Love the versatility of his game, I wonder if he could build up into a solid 4/5 guy who still has the offensive and defensive versatility. If so he could turn into another great player for us.

Not saying he is anywhere close but I see a potential Carmelo type player (only with a brain.) a guy who can handle the ball to put himself into position to score or make plays, a guy who is big and strong enough to push defenders around, and a guy who is versatile enough inside and outside that you can't take him away by overplaying a certain part of his game.

It's funny you mention Carmelo. When I saw the way Thomas kicks his feet out in front of him on his jump shot, Carmelo was the first one I thought of. I'm not sure i really see the style of play comparison though.

Different players but I see similarities in that their games expand outside their body types. Carmelo is a SF in a PF body, he can and will knock guys around while still playing away from the rim and handling the ball.

In Thomas I see a guy who you can play at PF but who can create nightmares by doing things that SFs usually do. He handles the ball well, can drive, has a nice mid-range shot (something that is almost non-existent anymore) and gets out and runs. He's a big guy who you can't play like a big guy or he'll kill you like Carmelo is a SF who you can't play like a SF or he will kill you.

Is he really 6'8? He is really smooth and athletic for a guy that big.

That video is off the hook. Some of those crossovers are nasty. And that one behind the head pass he makes is ridiculous.

The 2013 class is right there with the 2012 class despite fewer recruits. The state of the program is good.

I really like his handle and post game in that video.

Also, hat tip to William for the initial find.
:yeahthat: Wouldn't be surprised to see him get serious PT next fall, even though he was the "quiet" recruit. Good frame and weight distribution on him. He will not be RS-ing.

There was a post on Rivals from someone who spoke to Tad about Dustin. Apparently, he asked Tad who would be able to guard Dustin by the time he's a sophomore. Tad answered, "Nobody".
