Coming back to ASU per Pac-12.com - should make them a threat in the league.

ASU will be competitive but they will struggle without Felix. Teams will focus even more attention on Carson to beat them. He doesn't really have much help.

Don't know how ASU's schedule sets up and haven't studied them immensely, but my early guess would place them around 5-6th in the league.

Losing Felix really hurts though. Carson & Gordon are good, but is it enough for 6th?

Good point. I guess I need to figure out how strong I think this league is going to be when the dust settles. It's possible we may be in for a mediocre year as a league overall if teams like Washington aren't able to get back in business. Personally, I am a heavy Stanford skeptic in terms of their ability for consistency. We'll see.

Felix lead the team in Win Shares with 5.2. Carson was 2nd with 4.6. Felix was also 9th in the league in VORP (value over replacement player). Felix was such a dynamic player he is going to be missed big time.

I'm an ASU alum living in Phoenix but I grew up in CO and Buffs are my #1 team.

ASU won't be anything special next year. They lose Felix and Colvin. They will be alright but will struggle to finish top 5 in the conference.

While Felix was a very dynamic player for them last year he basically came out of nowhere for them. Next year they'll have Jahii (capable of making a Spencer-esq leap), starting along side 2 Sr's and a Jr who comprise 4 of the top 5 players from this team. That is a recipe for improving your performance, i haven't looked at the schedule for them yet but you'd have to think a repeat of this years 22 win season is on the table for them.

I have a hard time seeing them repeat last year's results. They overachieved for much of the season and, whether they expected that level of performance or not, it hurts to lose your most valuable player. With Carson, he's a great player, but I don't expect a huge jump from him. He's already an 18 and 5 player who, after the redshirt year, came in with a mature game and body. If he doesn't improve his jumper, he'll be a similar player again next year. Also, they return 4 key contributors, but that's about it. They also have one of the worst classes in the conference coming to campus this year. Murray's offer list looks good, but virtually everyone had shied away by the time he committed. In the end, I think they lack the depth to pull off another 20 win season.

I actually think Sendek is a much better coach than the Pac-12 realizes. I'm by no means saying he's great, and I'm not a fan of his methods, but don't be surprised if ASU remains a competitive mid-tier threat. His NCSU teams were very tough to deal with annually (and not just in terms of wrestling and boxing).
