PSU Soph QB Transferring - Immediate Eligibility

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/qb-steven-bench-transfer-penn-210527108--ncaaf.html

NCAA sanctions allow Nittany Lions to transfer until the start of training camp in August and play for another school without having to sit out a year.

3* everywhere except Scout (2*, #81) coming out of high school in GA. Not a lot of D1A offers (best other than PSU was Rice), but a lot of good D1AA programs wanted him. Dual-threat QB who runs a 4.68 and saw very limited game action last season (7 passes and 3 rushes). Was a close 2nd in the QB battle but there is a pretty heralded frosh coming in this fall.

Wasn't Rip Scherer's son a former player at PSU and a grad assistant for us last year? Is he still on staff?

I'd be much more on board with this transfer. There is just somethng sort of fishy about the other guy.

According to my PSU friends, he was our version of Hirsch. 3rd string behind a JC and their incoming FR QB. Not a guy they thought they could win with. He expects to start wherever he goes.

Maybe we do a trade. Hirsch for this kid, straight up.
