Vital these two stay healthy this season. Either one goes down for more than a game or two and we are done. If both stay healthy, things are going to work themselves out.

We need Nembot, Munyer, Handler, Irwin, Kelly,Crabb and Harris to step up. The underrated prospect is James Carr, I thought he looked good during Spring ball for a walk on. Basically we need everyone to step up.

Have either started and finished a full season healthy?

No snarkiness in the above question, legitimately wondering if they have been able to stay healthy for a full season because I know Harris has had prior injuries and Munyer recent injuries.

Fortunately, or not, depending on how you look at it, our best chances for wins come in the first two games.

The injury history would suggest staying healthy for a full season is going to be difficult. Hopefully, luck is on our side.

What are you talking about? We recruited like 8 OL the last two years. We got all kinds of depth. [/BB2]

^ yep.

This is going to be a disaster all season long. I'm already planning on giving Bernardi a pass for this year.

So who else thinks Duff started this thread just to set that joke up? He's gotta be pissed it took two pages to get to it...

Agree. I'm giving this staff a pass for the next two yrs. things are that bad.

Two years? You're generous! I told myself I'd give Embree two years at least, then last year happened.. so now I'm only willing to give one year.

I haven't seen any news on OL who can transfer and play immediately - is that because they don't exist? We need to bring in someone else, or have someone on the DL move over (perhaps Andre Nichols or John Tuso, who will never see any meaningful action on DL).

Looks to me like we are razor thin at OL.
We are definitely not deep, but we're not razor thin. The big issue to me is that if someone on the OL goes out for a extended period of time, or actually at all, we are relying on freshman and other players who are not ready.

Cotner (1L), Mustoe (1L; CO 4* recruit) and Irwin (1L; solid TX 3*) at back-ups; so there's eight OL with time on the field/experience.

Supplemented by Carr, Caldwell and Arvia (SpongeBob/Maiava lookalike), plus three frosh, all of whom you'd like to RS, but Graham and Huckins might be able to help fill in immediately.

As strong as one would like? No. But not a total disaster either.

You think Mustoe and Irwin are ready to be starting tackles at the PAC-12 level? I like Irwin, but his "experience" amounts to nothing (redshirt should not have been burned) and Mustoe is just a very average underclassman OL right now.

I am supposed to feel good about walk-ons too? Just having numbers does not equal depth. (You assholes are messing with me right?)

The worst OL depth chart in the conference. Period.

Well, none of the guys whizzer points out could displace the OL CU had last year which was sieve-like. Hard to see that as a positive with Bakhti going to the NFL. Lewis hurts because he was, presumably, one of the top five OL since he was a starter. CU just isn't in a good place on the OL right now.

Forget the abysmal depth at this point, but can we say that our starting five are at least average? We did see some improvement at the end of last year, but as a unit our starters did not look good to me. Is that strictly scheme and coaching? From a fan perspective I view our O-line as a below average starting unit (not singling anybody out here positively or negatively, but speaking to the entire staring five), with no depth (too much youth). We are going to need a miracle year on the injury front to be competitive.

If MM wants to throw the ball downfield, they better make sure they give Wood more than a half second to throw the ball.

Yep. The concern with OL depth is that it puts our also razor thin QB depth chart in danger. One injury to Wood and we are in for an even longer season

Absolutely critical to develop something resembling a running game. Easier on the linemen and keeps the pressure off the QB, reduces injuries all the way around.

If we can run the ball some it also will let us use some clock on offense taking some pressure off the D which is also dangerously thin.

Last year we were one of the worst running teams in the country (passing as well but I think they were related.) We don't have to become a running machine but we have to be good enough to demand at least some respect from the defenses we face. If we don't teams will simply tee off on Wood and we could see a worst case situation.

Incumbents (listed from most experience to least)

1. Harris
2. Handler
3. Munyer
4. Nembot
5. Irwin
6. Mustoe
7. Cotner
8. Kelley

Then 6 true FR
1. Kough
2. Graham
3. Sutton
4. Huckins
5. Kronshage
6. Lisella (likely redshirt)

It's not good we have to rely on true FR this year, but we do have some good talent coming in.

We have a couple players coming in I think can be quality contributors as redshirt sophomores.
