Holmes had a breakout season as a junior on a great team with over 1,100 yards rushing and 10 TDs. Definitely not the biggest back, but if you watch the highlights, he has solid speed and very quick feet.

"Colorado and Oklahoma State are pretty much offers right now," said Holmes after one of his games last weekend. "I'm going to trip to Colorado for their Spring Game. I'm going to trip to Oklahoma State for their Spring Game, and I've been talking to Boise State a lot. So hopefully in the Spring I can pull that one off too."

The man they call "Sweet Feet" lived up to his nickname on Sunday. Holmes made play after play after play from different positions at the camp. He played outside. He played in the slot, He also took a few turns lining up against linebackers as a running back. No matter where he positioned himself, though, he seemed to come out on the winning side of the rep. The 5-foot-8 back's speed easily got the best of linebackers and seemed to sneak up on defensive backs.

So Holmes technically does not have any offers right now, but expect that to change very soon. Kid can play.

Had another big day yesterday at a 7-on-7 tournament:

Holmes made an impression at the Rivals Camp in Los Angeles because of his cutbacks and his ability to shake defenders in one-on-one situations. It cannot be overlooked, either, that he catches a lot of badly thrown balls and always seems to make something happen. The Tulsa, Okla., native is hearing a lot more from Oklahoma State and Colorado, and he's excited about both schools.

How many times is someone going to post "must get" or similar in the recruiting forum over the next 10 months?

Holmes would be a good pickup and give our RB group something it sorely needs: athleticism. We need more guys who can line up all over the field to create mismatches. Right now our offensive personnel limits what we can do on offense.

Let's hope his unofficial visit goes well this weekend. Wonder if we formally extend an offer.

Any idea why we wouldn't have offered by now? Seems like an explosive player. Possible difference maker.

Agree with Duff, he would add a dimension to the offense that we currently lack with his speed and elusiveness. He looks like the kind of back who could kill it in the pistol taking little dump off passes, making somebody miss and creating big plays. You hit a couple of those and all the sudden the LBs and Safeties tighten down their zones a little opening up more room for your other recievers to work, you also make teams more hesitant to blitz leaving a hole for him to work in.

Looks like M2 is working on getting us faster and quicker soon, this guy would help in both areas.

Definitely been implied by a few sources that grades are an issue here. Remember that part of the Spring Evaluation Period is assessing transcripts.
