The lawyer for former University of Colorado football player Alex Lewis, who along with CU quarterback Jordan Webb was arrested on assault charges over the weekend, today backtracked on comments he made that his client may have been "accosted" for wearing Nebraska Cornhusker gear.

In other words:

"Either my client lied to me or I made some **** up to curry sympathy for my client. Regardless, it's the press's fault."

"I made a misstatement," Brenner said. "(My client) wasn't dressed in Nebraska gear. I don't know where I got that from. I've been bombarded by the press with so much inunedo, I get confused."
Brenner stood by comments he previously made that his client "was not the aggressor" in the incident. The attorney previously said the Lewis shoved the alleged victim, identified by police as 22-year-old Lee Bussey, after Bussey threw the first punch.

This is precious. "I get confused" followed directly by..."erm...he didn't do it."

When this story hit a couple of weeks ago, there was almost elation at the possibility that the transferring lineman and the great high-standing character of the QB were fighting over traitorous, cowardly behavior.

But now we know the story is they ganged up and beat some guy into unconsciousness. Yet. Great character for our QB. This always reflects well on any school.

I don't know why your post bothers me, because I agree with it (timeline aside).

Nobody feels good about what happened around here. And I haven't seen anybody willing to give either assailant a pass, if what was reported is true.

I think The Walrus would have smiled a little. Dang Zoomies.

These are the same people who decided even though he has a better chance starting at CU and would receive a far superior education in a much more beautiful setting, they would still choose to go to Nebraska.

I am really glad to hear he was not assaulted for wearing a Nub gear. They don't still do that in Boulder do they? Isn't kicking a neb fans's ass a hate crime now days? I mean those fans are BORN that way, right? No one would ever really choose that life style.

Seriously, in all my years I cannot understand the lure of alcohol and fighting among those with large amounts of testosterone.

We only pick on children and old ladies in Nebraska gear. Same as the old days

Yet you married a Marine.

Got to hear the interview of Lewis' attorney (Brenner) with CJ and Kreckman on Tuesday evening. He was all trying to be buddies with them (all quotes below are paraphrased):

"I've been an ardent CU supporter for close to 40 years".

"He was dressed in NU gear and got accosted by some kids from the AFA who were highly intoxicated, and one kid swung at Alex who pushed him away.... With the help of Jordan Webb, they kept them at bay until the police arrive".

"I don't know if Alex Lewis was intoxicated".

"My client was picked on for wearing NU gear in Boulder and it makes sense that the guy picking the fight was an AFA cadet, because the good people of Boulder wouldn't behave that way"... (WTF? )

"Lewis didn't quite comprehend what was going on".

"I've been told by various sources that the kids from the academy were berating Alex for transferring to Nebraska, I don't think CU kids would behave like that". Kreckman cracks up, Brenner says this is no laughing matter...
Kreckman: "I find it laughable that you would more equate this behavior from students from the US AFA than for students from CU".

"The AFA kid won't graduate with his class because of this. He was out at 3 am in the morning.... nothing good happens at 3am in the morning right CJ?" (Uh, I think your client was out at 3 in the morning too)

I was speechless. Why he went on the radio to defend his client is beyond me. Any potential client that hears this guy talk is not going to be impressed.

Today, I see he has recanted that his client was wearing NU gear at all... Great. What a great job he is doing.

"CJ - call me so I can take you golfing!!!!"

yes, a Marine pilot. They have much more brain power and self control; are most often damned good looking and wouldn't sacrifice the face; and are usually issued a Hawt wife so they have no need to be out getting drunk and rowdy with loser friends.
