Oregon is going to tough again this year...Mike Moser to the Ducks

Once again Altman pulls the miracle senior transfer who can play immediately card.

Yeah dre will kill him again. Oh wait.

We'll be a better team next year than we were two years ago. I'm also confident in our defense being able to keep opposing players quite as defense hasn't been our struggles since the 2011 season.

Jeez, this pisses me off. Altman exploits the transfer rule more than any coach in college bball, and that's the only reason Oregon has been competitive these last two years IMO. It is a lot easier to coach 4-5th guys than true frosh. Devoe Joseph and Olaslu in 2011 and Kazemi (who got a waiver and didn't have to sit!) in 2012, and now Moser in 2013. I admire Boyle because he cares about developing the program and not bringing in rentals every year.

I really hope this comes back to hurt Oregon and Altman.

It is one thing to get a senior transfer once and awhile (we could use one to replace Dre leaving), but Altman uses the rule every friggin year to get a one year rental. I feel bad for the young players on that team because if you don't perform he will just bring in a senior transfer to play. Also, I read that Austin Kuemper is transferring out, and Oregon is bringing in Tarick Black from Memphis this weekend, coincidence? I don't know, but Oregon is getting way too many high profile transfers. It isn't like Oregon is a bball powerhouse.

If you look at moser's stats, he hasnt really been the same since that game that dre ate his dinner in ABQ - though he may have gotten hurt. Big loss for UW/Romar, as this will most likely be his last chance, and moser would have been a good grab for him.

There have got to be some pissed off Mutes in Seattle. They thought they were getting Moser, then to have him go to Oregon..... they can't be happy...

I don't get this rant. So it's ok to bring in a transfer, but only occasionally? So a kid who committed somewhere and realized it wasn't the right place for him (or graduated and still had eligibility) is only ok to bring in if you do it occasionally?

****, I'd love it if Tad could bring in a transfer every year. And I bet if you asked him off the record, he'd admit it.

Altman's also lost some high profile transfers. I really have no problem with this one. I still don't understand how Kazemi was eligible last year, though.

Hopefully for Moser's sake, he gets over his injuries from last year and starts playing well again, except for when UO plays us.

Agreed. We all get tired of seeing these transfers end up at Oregon, but Altman's building a reputation as a coach who will feature transfers, rather than viewing them as complimentary depth. I don't see the big appeal of Oregon basketball, but I can't blame Altman. Besides, he's walking a fine line counting on transfers every year, and eventually that will bite him.

Basically, I believe in the model of building a program with freshmen growing to junior and seniors and only filling in holes with jc transfers, regular transfers, and one year guys if guys leave early , not rely on them every year for a program, especially a bcs school where it should be 1000 times easier to get guys to commit than most smaller programs.

Altman is a mercenary, he is getting one year rentals every year coached by other coaches, trained by other trainers, etc. i believe his entire 2011 class is gone! imo, I think tad would prefer 13 of his own recruits and wouldn't mind a one year guy if there is a glaring hole but not use that rule to get guys every year and force out the freshmen that don't play much. That's the difference .

I just dont like that Altman uses this one year rental rule to get experienced guys without sitting out a year just to win a few more games.. It is a huge advantage... Would I have liked moser to come to cu? hell yes but only because we lost dre and could use a upperclassman big

This is good news for the PAC 12, but it is interesting to watch. I wonder if other coaches will start copying altmans strategy ?

WTH happened to him this past year? His numbers basically dropped by half in points and rebounds

Just snooped around and Oregon might get another graduate transfer in Tarik Black from Memphis

If I remember correctly, Moser actually just missed a ton of good looks in that one. Hell, the entire UNLV team missed a bunch of open looks.

Who does everything think will have a bigger impact when we play Oregon or on the season in general, Moser or George King? Keep in mind it's possible King will red shirt and not play at all. Now if you have some sense of logic and went with the choice of a senior who averaged 14 points and 11 rebounds at UNLV over a true freshman mid-level recruit then my question is what doesn't Tad understand about this? Why didn't we go after Moser or another transfer? Maybe we wouldn't have gotten him or someone else but it helps to try. King was Tad's only backup plan after Andre left. Again transfer = more of a sure thing and more of an immediate impact. Maybe you're thinking well, we'll have King four years, a transfer might only be here one year. Well guess what? We could have taken a transfer, he graduates, and then use that scholly on another 2014 player, i'm sure someone good given the level Tad is recruiting.

I literally despise you and your stupidity. Is your IQ below 75? Boyle did not even know King existed until the Sunday after Dre left. King was not a back up. Tad said he would have been #2 on his big board for 2014. Tad most likely did not like something about Moser. Who knows. But if you think king is a mid major recruit you are a ****ing idot.

Any insiders here besides JRK who know for certain that Moser had any interest in CU and that Tad did not bother to reach out to him?

I was already mad enough that Tad didn't choose to sign Wiggins, but now I learn we could have had Moser as the backup plan to that.

I never said he was a mid-major recruit, I said mid-level recruit, as in an a run-of-the-mill three-star type player. Work on the reading comp. You also never answered my question who has a better year, Moser or King? Exactly, it's not rocket science. Here's another question, last year would our team have been better of with...

A. Jarred Dubois an immediately eligible to play transfer who averaged 13 points for Utah.
B. Eli Stalzer
C. No one

Now if you posses a brain the answer is A, not a hindsight is 20/20 type decision either yet we took Stalzer over a transfer. So tell me again why Im stupid or why everything Boyle does should be accepted as gospel...

1. Never said the transfer had to be Moser, there are many fish in the sea.

2. Maybe we wouldn't get Moser or others but you never know unless you try and it appears that Tad didn't make a serious attempt at adding any transfer. Plenty of quality transfers over the last couple of years have ended up at schools that are inferior to what we have to offer, many are not that difficult to get.

We weren't going to get Mike Moser, Tarik Black, or Josh Davis. That's pretty much all that was available that would have been a fit for us and were actually capable players.
