Colorado assistants get new titles in hopes of bolstering head coaching prospects

While the head coaching carousel is the focus every offseason the many changes within a coaching staff can also have an impact.

At Colorado, head coach Tad Boyle is fortunate to have led the same staff for each of his three seasons in Boulder, resulting in the most successful stretch in the history of the program.

I'm honestly shocked we didn't lose anyone this off-season. I had assumed that Pri was as good as gone for a head coaching job, and that Rohn would get some serious sniffs as well. While it has to be frustrating for the guys, it's great for CU. We're really lucky to have as good of a staff as we do.

Pri and Rohn will make good head coaches. I just don't want to lose both in the same offseason.
 
Tad is awesome. I haven't felt this positive about a coach at CU since Mac back in the 80's.
 
FYI - Tad does a great job of preparing his assistants to be head coaches. They do significant game planning. More importantly, our team scrimmages constantly at practice with Pri & Rohn each getting to coach a team. Both will be ready when the right opportunity comes.
 
When we reach the Sweet 16 this coming season, people will be all over these guys (even though they should be already). :thumbsup: The CU/Tad Boyle coaching tree should be a thing of beauty to look back on in 10 years.

Isn't Boyle a "branch" of the Larry Brown coaching tree?

Coach Rohn is a huge part of this programs success. He's an terrific recruiter/communicator, plus he does excellent work with the big men. I'm confident he's a star in the making

He was a assistant to Jerry Green, who was a assistant to Roy Williams, who was a assistant to Larry Brown. I have no idea if that counts.
 
It kind of depends on what you consider a "branch." Tad takes plenty from Brown, and they still talk shop. It's like if you consider Bieniemy part of the Mac-1 tree.
 
Generally, they do these coaching trees based on whether a coach worked directly for someone. For instance, Belichik is part of the Parcells coaching tree but Saban is not. With Saban, though, it may be more accurate to say he's part of the Don James coaching tree since that's the guy who mentored him and gave him his start in coaching.
