Do you trust them?

Do you Trust Benson & DiStefano?

  • Yes, they have the best interest of the university and athletic department in mind.

  • Meh. I don't think they'll actually be making the hire, it will be the boosters who dictate a hire.

  • No, they have proven to be inept in the past and have given me no reason to trust them.

I trust Benson (and possibly Solich) to hire someone who has extensive fundraising experience (seeing as how he is an excellent fundraiser) so yes

**** no I don't trust them. They have both proven time and again that having highly successful athletic programs is not their priority, why would they change course now?

I can't imagine anyone actually voting for the yes option.
Neither can I. Mostly satisfying my own morbid curiosity. The real question behind the question is about whether you think they'll actually hire someone, or if you think it will be a booster choice. I anticipated nobody here trusting these two.

hells no, distephano more than benson. Benson has shown that when he cares, he's good at something. Not sure he cares though. Distephano... nothing he has done suggests he can be trusted on this issue.

I don't think Benson would have fired Bohn if he didn't care....

There's absolutely no reason to trust either one of these ****s.

But what other choice do we have?

However, I'm not so sure that I want someone foisted on the school by boosters.

I'd love to know who in the hell is calling the shots here.

Oh Hells no. Was Bohn not subservient enough for them? We actually think they'll hire somebody with a spine? Laughable.

Why call Bohn spineless? He did what his bosses asked. That's his job.

Do you routinely tell your boss to **** off ?

Put me in with those who trust Benson and not Dr. Phil. DiStefano is too worried about what the faculty at UCB thinks instead of trying to change the thinking.

i trust them to do things in a way that maximizes negative attention on the university on a timetable that no one outside the club can understand. i trust them to issue ridiculous statements that contradict the words of the individuals involved. i trust them to deny, fail to disclose, obfuscate, ignore, and blame-shift rather than be accountable.

Trust is irrelevant. They are the ones making the hire.
Just because an opinion may be irrelevant in the grand scheme of things doesn't mean you can't have one. Or did you forget you were on a message board?
I can resign myself to the fact that people I wouldn't trust to water my plants while I'm out of town will be making this decision. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

My answer exactly. If they want a great fundraiser then Benson may be the exact right guy for this.

Benson is showing signs that he gets it. He definitely gets fundraising. He has also demonstrated that he is willing to take decisive action. All I've seen from DiStephano is a yes man administrator. He doesn't even seem to be any good on the academic side since we've been consistently falling in the academic rankings under his watch. CU-Boulder deserves better and I hope they bring in some real talent from outside the when he finally retires rather than appoint another internal person as an administrator lifetime achievement award.
