No offer from the Buffs, but 247 lists us as an interest. Also, surprised a 4* has no offers.

Is he without offers or is he just not reporting? Also wonder if there is another issue that might be causing the offers to be slow coming in, something in the classroom or medical?

Looks like he is a big kid who still has room to grow. Highlight tape includes a lot of finished blocks, plays with some nasty attitude. Also like his footwork on his blocks, keeps a good base and well balanced, that will translate well to playing the larger sized guys in college.

I am one of those people who believe that it is hard to have to many big guys who can block. A solid O-line can make up for a lot of other weaknesses.

You guys need to stop overplaying the "he is not reporting offers" storyline.

I just go by whatever it shows on the 4 recruiting sites

Not a statement, just a question. Seems kind of odd that a kid with that kind of size and decent tape playing in Texas where a lot of schools go to look for talent wouldn't have any offers at this point, at least from some non-AQ level schools. That was the reason for the question about health or the classroom which would be legitimate reasons not to have offers at this point.

Why?

We have limited information to go on. We have star ratings, offer lists, height, weight, and speed stats. We might get some film if we're lucky. If I see a kid with 4 stars with few or no BCS offers, it makes me wonder why. I think it's a reasonable question to ask.

Sacky, I meant that thinking all these lightly recruited kids are just not reporting offers is a big stretch.

And I was not disputing the lack of offers, just wondering why a kid who has size, decent tape, good ratings from a couple of the services, and is in an area that doesn't get overlooked by the recruiters doesn't have offers at this point.

It is possible that he just isn't that good. We have debated rankings from the services ad nauseum here and highlight tapes are just that, highlights. I just wonder if the kid has no offers listed why. Certainly could be for a number of reasons.

When you don't see offers, it could be a number of things:

1. He's not very good.
2. He's got significant academic or character or fitness issues.
3. He's not reporting them / giving interviews.
4. He's been missed by scouts (small school / no camps / switched schools / injured as junior / grew a lot after junior season).
5. He's caught in a loop where he didn't get an early offer so the lack of offers is scaring other schools away - "others must know something we don't". Usually in this case when you see that first offer you'll see about a half dozen other offers follow in the next couple weeks.
