I've seen this on other sites and thought it was an interesting topic. Coaches, players, influential boosters, administrators, who do you put up on your Colorado Buffaloes Mount Rushmore? Not just football related.

great question:

Mac, Byron White, Billups, Wetmore

The first two were easy and the 2nd two were tougher.

Billups - our best basketball player to date. Will be an NBA hall of famer, already won NBA finals MVP and is a great ambassador to the program
Wetmore - 5 time national champion coach. It might be a lightly followed sport, but the guy will go down as one of the greatest coaches in CU history.

Mac, Ralphie, Justice White

fourth spot for an icon to be named later.

Are we including Mac so someone can sneak up at night and spray paint his face for all the **** he pulled last year?

dont want to derail this thread but i dont think Chauncey makes the HOF

dammit you suckered me in. I don't pay too much attention to the NBA, so I probably just read he was a lock somewhere and filed it away as the truth. I can definitely see how people would think he didn't do enough to warrant HOF selection.

If it were the NFL HOF no but the NBA HOF I think he is pretty solid.

He has a bunch of All-star games, has the ring and multiple deep playoff appearances, and has been a great citizen which factors into the NBA HOF decision. He has lots of years, big career numbers, and is well known. He also has played in a lot of cities and has been well liked by the media in each city. I think he is pretty solid although it won't be first year.

i'm prepared to forgive and forget. he's been acting more gracious lately. plus, even if he were beezelbub himself, you can't deny the man's success. he is the gold standard of CU football excellence and it isn't even close. crowder did a great job, but Mac created something that no other coach has been able to replicate-- a true national power over a number of years.

but, if he does go rogue again, i'd be up for spray painting his giant stone face image on the buff rushmore.

McCartney
Whizzer
Ceal Barry
Hagan (was close with Salaam)

Guys like Chauncey and Boyle haven't had a long enough impact on CU

I'm assuming that Skiddy is already working on some farks.

I'm not quite ready to move on from the...um...entertainment value of my Casey Parker nomination.

Then I'll need a turkey sandwich and a nap.

Off topic but the Basketball hall of fame encompasses both amateur and professional careers. Its not just an NBA hall of fame.

Fairbanks is dead, you know?

Anyway, my four would be Mac, Fred Folsom, Eddie Crowder and Sox Walseth.

Players come and players go, but the coaches that built the programs leave legacies. I think Tad and Ceal also deserve some recognition, but alas, we're stuck with only four.
