Sept. 1st can't get here soon enough. I am getting tired of my own speculation and that of others on what could have been over the past few years and the endless debate about each recruit and whether or not they are good enough, the debate about HCMM&Co, etc.

I am really anxious to see what kind of product HCMM puts on the field for our first game. For the record I think we win that game but I wouldn't go to the bank with it.

But I am desperate to finally see a Colorado team that:
1.) Plays as a team
2.) Is not over penalized
3.) Has a handful of 20+ yard gains per game including a few deep balls
4.) A defense that looks like they know what they are doing and are well prepared
5.) A coaching staff that never loses an opportunity to coach up and build a player's confidence
6.) A kicking game that is more often a plus than a detriment to the chances for a CU victory
7.) A team that NEVER quits
8.) Plays almost every game competitively even when we have no business being in the game
9.) Good game time adjustments
10.) A quarter back who looks, acts and plays like a competitive BCS/Pac 12 QB

Am I asking for too much?

I want to see a team that looks like they belong on the field with whoever we are playing in a given week. I don't want to see a single game that has been decided against us by halftime. I want to see energy and for the games to be fun again (for players and fans). I want to see a plan and effective execution of that plan. I want to see this team beat CSU by 20+.

watch some twenty-year old (or so) games. that should satisfy most of those demands.

I would love all the things on your wish list. Sadly it may take most of the season or more to get some of these things (most of your items should come with time, but everything is brand new here, coupled with a lot of youth/inexperience). I think 8 might be a bit of wishful thinking this year and 10 is a total wildcard.

I'd be happy to see improvement as the season progresses. We didn't see that last year. CU actually got worse. Go up north 45 miles and you can see that csu did get better last season as the season went on.

I agree, except the running game. That seemed to improve a bit over the season. We have decent talent...enough to win 6-8 games...but it needs time to develop and be coached properly. 3 wins this year...6 next...you all heard it here first :)

Win 8 games?!?

Win 8 games?!?
If we were older and time in the new system. Seems to me we have the talent to win all OOC games, beat Utah, Wazzou, Cal, Washington. That's ~6...then surprise 1 or 2, like AZ or UCLA. I know 8 games would be a stretch tho... I just don't think our talent is as awful as everyone thinks...just young and awfully coached. Agree at all?

No way do we come close to 8 wins... heck I'm finding it tough to find 4 wins (IMHO that would be a success) FTW - CU doesn't play Wazzu this year.

UCLA and Washington have way more talent than we do, particularly at the offensive skill positions. They also have a lot more depth too. It's not really that close.

Never said we'd win 8 this year...just with the current talent, time and coaching, we could be an 8 win team.

I'm expecting 2 wins...setting my self up, I hope, for a pleasant surprise. Gonna be a tough year though...hope the kids can keep their spirits up during the inevitable drubbings.

The games they won were against absolutely awful teams, though. Even Embree could have beat them if he kept his foot out of his ass. Here are the F/+ rankings of the teams they beat last year:

So was it that CSU got better or was it the quality (or lack of) teams that they were playing?
