Dillon To Transfer From Colorado, Eyes Basketball

Wow big hit to our QB depth. One of Embo's prized recruits never saw a snap here. Did he see writing on the wall with Wood hopefully the man for the next two seasons then Sefo and Cade waiting in the wings?

I don't think our depth is that bad. Wood starting Gehrke backing up, Sefo coming in... Apsay... we're probably fine. I'd like to have a better third stringer, but it's fine.

Wow huge surprise. Wish him the best in wherever he ends up. The QB department is so full right now that we really could stand to lose some. Didn't expect it to be Shane though. Here is hoping that Wood has figured it out and that Sefo the real deal.

While I'm disappointed we will never get to see what he could have been this isn't a devastating blow. He probably wasn't going to play much this year anyway and Sefo is just as good a prospect if not better with more years of eligibility.

Good luck Shane.

after spring practice this is kinda what I thought could happen, hope everything works out for him.

Hey Buffnik: I was looking at the football roster here on Allbuffs yesterday, and noticed that Shane Dillon was not listed.. did you or someone have advance information that Shane was leaving?

Schrock is a very serviceable No 3. He could even move up to battle for No 2, with a lot of effort and some good coaching. He was hurt in HS and set back, but I wouldn't count him entirely out.

It always ticked me off that Schrock didn't see the field ahead of an obviously injured Webb last season; just another strike against Water Bottle & Co.

Barzil is worth the $15 per year.

 Barzil was the first to hear of this anywhere.

In our Barzil member forum 4 days ago. We broke the story right at the same time that Rivals mod SD Buff posted on that board that he was hearing things. We may have actually beat him by a few minutes by typing faster. Within the hour, I'd gotten confirmation word through a player in Shane's recruiting class that he was leaving CU to go back to Cali and pursue basketball.

We're fine if at least 2 or 3 of the kids you mentioned actually develop into legit BCS caliber QBs, but until these kids actually prove it on the field I don't feel too comfortable with our "depth". Depth and bodies are two very different things.

Apparently that shoulder might have been a bigger problem than anticipated. I'd say Dillon is a wise kid...not worth destroying your body any further continuing to play football and switching to basketball.

It just occurred to me that if he's having trouble getting his arm above his head to throw a football, wouldn't that also make it tough to shoot a basketball?

So does this mean there is any chance we are keeping Webb? What about that TE who was coming to play because of Dillon. Is he still in the plans now? I think losing Dillon is a big blow to the depth chart at CU. We may not feel it this year if Wood stays healthy but in a few seasons we would have been loaded with depth with Gehrke, Dillon, and Sefo. Now we lose one of those options.

I don't think so. I messed my arm/shoulder up bad playing baseball and after time I could play basketball w/out any issues. However throwing baseball/softball/football will never be the same along with weight lifting.

I agree it's a blow.

Ever since Hawk, the lack of an NFL prospect at QB has been glarring. I hoped Dillon was that guy. Damn!

Lol, CU is such a cesspool right now, this is just the cherry on top.

A comparable situation would be to find the model girl of your dreams, get married, then find out she leaving you because she likes women. lol.

Seriously, we can't even make this stuff up.

Not sure herpes can be considered a privilege.

I know. It has been absolutely brutal at QB here at CU. I have gone on the record stating if you can just get lucky and hit on a QB then you instantly go to a competitive team. We just haven't been able to do that. It has to start with development and the right system. I hope we can get this thing turned around. I still hold out hope that Wood can figure it out. I think he could be a really good Pistol QB if he is durable enough to handle the running portion of it.

Ever since DII brought in the prince, no highly ranked QB wanted to come here. Hansen, Ballenger and Evans were decent prospects. All got the shaft IMO. Evans magically developed TE skills. Ballenger, Helfrich's "hand picked" recruit at QB, suddenly found a new love for Bball, and Hansen got the "redshirt/No redshirt" treatment x2. Bottom line, nobody was gonna play QB for D II unless it was Cody...then, things got so bad DII finally put in TH. Too little, too late and the TH got hurt anyway. DII was a disaster. MB's decision to extend, partly if not completely controlled by DuiStephano and/or Old man Benson, took a struggling FB program and put it into a terminal nosedive. Hopefully, MikMac can get us in the air again....

I have to say I am going full tini at this point and just assuming Lundgren is going to turn one of our QBs into David Fales. It's my last shred of hope.
