Dotson had a monster junior season in No Cal with over 2,000 yards and 24 TDs. He just picked up an offer from Northwestern and should get plenty of PAC-12 attention.

At 6', 170# is obviously light for running back. Have to wonder if college programs are trying to get him to switch to receiver, or if expect him to bulk up. Either way, his junior stats are very impressive.

Dotson is making a decision in the next couple months. Buffs could be in good shape if he makes it here for a visit.

http://colorado.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1504361

He averaged an eye-opening 12.9 yards on 167 rushing attempts during his junior campaign.

Dotson has clocked in at 10.7-seconds in the 100-meter dash during track this spring, the fastest time in his league.

Obviously needs to add some weight, but he's very impressive. I hope we can haul him in.

We have the makings of a pretty good RB class if things fall our way.

He said awhile back that he wanted to commit in June or July.. no recent updates on him, though. I like our chances against the offers he has.

Rivals has a new post about him. Says he plans to commit after his team's first game in August. We are definitely in the running. Gotta like that he has Pac offers and a Yale offer (i.e. BCS worthy and academics shouldn't be a problem).

American Canyon (Calif.) High's Jomon Dotson is one of the Buffaloes' top targets at running back this recruiting cycle.

If the reported time is right we could use his speed. Also looks to have the frame to carry enough weight to get us out of our midget back mode.

Like the BCS offers as well.

Like the offer list? He has one offer from ASU and the rest of the offers are horrible. It's fine if the offer from Yale/Harvard are in there if Standford, Cal, CU, Boise St. Washington, UCLA are also in on him. Otherwise that leads me to believe he is a smart kid who isn't a quality BCS athlete. I have to think we are the favorite here with that offer list unless he wants to go to an Ivy League school.

Northwestern and Iowa St are horrible offers?

Northwestern and Iowa State are horrible offers? Basically you are saying every major program in the West has tto offer a kid for him to be validated?

Northwestern and Iowa St are horrible offers?

Northwestern is ok, but they don't have a single recruit west of Texas right now, so not sure how thoroughly they evaluate west coast talent. Iowa state - not a great offer. I actually like this kids tape, but I do think it's a valid concern that he's in NorCal and hasn't received much Pac 12 interest and two of his best offers are from schools 1,500 miles away.

American Canyon is wine country, right? How's the competition up there?

Shifting gears a bit, but I wonder if the Northwestern offer is still on the table. They have 2 RBs committed now and it would seem odd to take 3 in a class (unless they plan a position switch on one).

You are completely underestimating Paul Rhoads.

He looks like a good player to me. I like how fluid of an athlete he is. When he cuts, he makes it look effortless.

You can criticize the Big 10 about some things but they do play physical run defense. If Northwestern coaches think he can run effectively in that league that counts for something. Iowa State is certainly not a national power but they have been at least a bowl team the last two years.

We would all love to be signing RB prospects who are 6'2" 235lbs run 4.35 and have offers from every school in the top 15 but rebuilding the Buffs is going to be a process. A kid who has other BCS offers, looks to have BCS speed and athleticism and by the way is a good enough student that he isn't likely to be an academic attrition victim is a step in the right direction.

There is nothing wrong with a NW offer at all. They are a pretty solid program. I wish CU was where they are as a program right now.

No I'm not. Rhoads is a fine coach and is probably as good as Iowa State could ever ask for. But he's been there 4 years and has a losing record, 1 winning season, has never win more than 3 conference games, and is coming off a 6-7 season and a whipping at the hands of Tulsa in the whogivesa**** bowl. Iowa State is a dog**** program and I don't consider that a great offer.

Not to knock this kid, I actually like his tape and if his speed is legit I'm all for him, but let's not make Iowa State out to be more than they are.
