CSU game boycotters

So to start off I will be the first to say I HATE the game being in Denver. Worst location possible for this game. I hate the DPD, I hate the tailgating rules, I think the atmosphere sucks now. BUT now I am gonna go on a little rant for why buff nation needs to show up for this game. I know many people are planning on boycotting this game cause they feel the way I do. But staying at home will not end this game. There is a contract in place which is not gonna get broken from an athletic department whose budget cannot have more hits right now. I know the AD gets feedback from alum who all hate this and I do think it will change AFTER the current contract expires. But in the meantime its time to step up and support this team. We have a new AD and coach who had nothing to do with the current contract. They deserve our support. (Pretty sure most people on here said they would support this program if JE, Bohn and company were fired... time to step up boys)

And most importantly these kids had no part in that contract to play in Denver. They deserve to run behind Ralphie with the support of buff nation behind them. Just cause we are mad at the contract our ex-AD signed doesn't mean we shouldn't get behind these young men and support this team. They deserve to have 40k or more buffs fans in the stands. And our being pissy and boycotting looks terrible on TV/highlights. How do you all think it looks to recruits who maybe visiting or watching on TV when the stadium looks like a HS game in Texas. We need to support this team. We can help rebuild this program but they need butts in the seats. They need us creating an atmosphere a player wants to be part of. And the young men who bust their asses all year and new coaches deserve our support regardless of location. So for those planning to boycott I am hoping some of you see this and lets try to make this a respectable showing at Mile High. And god willing the days of Mile High games will come to an end in the years to come.

I just wish my seats were somewhat compatible to where they are in Folsom. I hate sitting up top and I feel like a sucker for paying extra to get better seats when I'm already paying more than my seats cost. I'm going this year because my wife loves CU but she works on Saturday.

If people buy season tickets and don't go to the game, the AD still gets the money. Someone posted this earlier, but CU gets zero dollars from parking, concession, etc. So the only real reason is to support the team.

I'm willing to bet there is a contract out if the overall attendance drops below a certain number. Also, not liking the game and showing up does nothing but assist the decision for renewing the contract when due.

I understand your position - but I go games for personal enjoyment. I don't enjoy the DPD, the heat, the sterile stadium, the CSU fans, the terrible seating, the event staff. I paid for my ticket, so the school got their money out of me, but I don't want to waste my time going to something I don't enjoy.

That's plenty good enough reason for me; I'll be there.

I completely understand where you are coming from. I will be there but I do not have season tickets and will not be purchasing the tickets through the CU AD. The men out there deserve our support and frankly I believe they truly need it. It has been a rough few years for the upperclassmen on this team. They deserve to go out with a bang.

I agree with Ralphhandler1 100%. As for crappy seats, I paid the $25 or so per ticket to upgrade this year, so I'm on the 40 yard line on level 1. Yeah, it sucks to have to pay to upgrade, but, to me, it is worth it. Unfortunately, both programs are down. When they are not, Mile High can be awesome. I was at the "Lightning Bolt" game, and it was, truly, a great experience. But with both teams down, the game should be played on campus.

I hear the OP. Labor Day weekend is one of the few on the calendar that isn't jam packed with activities for the kids...we usually hang as a family and take it easy. Add in the atmosphere at the Gulag and I just say no. If I am going to pry open the wallet, it is to go to Boulder and see the Buffs at Folsom...not the Mile High/Invesco/Sports Authority/Big Diaphragm, where the welcome mat is surrounded by the riot geared DPD, itching to taze the huddled masses yearning to see CFB.

If you have season tickets, you've already pried open the wallet. So, you either go or sell/give away your tickets. And, for me, this year has the big "curiosity" factor. I want to see what the new staff does.

Me too, fortunately I have this new fangled device called a TV....

I agree with what everyone has posted so far. I hate the game at Mile High. It had a few good years in the late 90's, when the students nearly rioted and whatnot. But now it's such a huge pain in the ass in general. I'll still go even though I think it sucks. I was already forced to buy the tickets and I'll do my part to help the atmosphere from totally sucking. Just gotta go and hope the DPD doesn't single you out for any unwanted attention.

Anyone not going, I need one ticket to the game. I have 4 season tix and this year I have a 5th I am breaking into the Buff games. My 6 year old just needs a ticket to get in and will sit with us. Please let me know if you have one you will not use and I will put it to good use.

I hope your newfangled device, what is it again? A TV?, can get shots of the coaches on the sidelines and how they are dealing with issues/players. Now, about this thing you call a "TV"....

All that being said, it is Colorado Football. Doesn't that give you enjoyment? it must if you are a season ticket holder right? I would give my left leg to be able to drive 30 mins to see the Buffs. (Settling for Washington and Boise State at new Husky stadium in Seattle this Saturday) But to each his own.

Does Colorado Football give me enjoyment?? Not sure I should answer that question honestly

Ha, yea I am actually wondering that myself these last few years. Somehow God smiled on me a couple seasons ago when I flew in for the Arizona game which we won big! New season, new hope, GO BUFFS!

Yeah I always pay the ridiculous rate for the Club level upgrade for this game. If I'm going to stuck at this thing I at least want to be able to drink throughout, and you have a lot less exposure to douchey CSU fans and students up there, just have to avoid ending up hanging out at the bar all game.

Still pissed that they upgraded me to the CSU club level with a bunch of other buff fans.

We were there 2 years ago - it sucked. We won that year so it wasn't completely insufferable but still - why again do we "help" sell CSU's side????

That happened to me last year since I waited to renew since I wanted to be able to pick a new seat location in Folsom.

In all honesty, I think this will be a very bad game for a little one to be at. I would leave the kids at home and bring them to a game in Boulder if I were you. The DPD is just itching to lob a few tear gas canisters into the crowd and break a few skulls with their knightsticks. This has all the earmarks of a miserable experience.

I should add that I'm kind of embarassed to be going to this game. I really want to not go. I think the best way to send a message that this game sucks is to avoid it like the plague. What's keeping me going is that there are a scarce few opportunities in our lifetime to watch the Buffs play in person. I don't want to miss one of those opportunities if I can avoid it. That said, if this game turns out the way I fear it will, and the DPD goes all gestapo on us, this will be the end for me. I can't justify supporting that kind of arrangement.

I'm only going for long enough to get a nice buzz in club level before I catch the light rail to the Alice in Chains concert.

My wife talked me into going. i was content having my ticket go unused and still be counted in Plati's final attendance numbers.

Bring on the DPD riot police and the body cavity search from your less than friendly stadium security guard. I promise to keep my tailgate within the confines of my parking space, have it packed up 1/2 hour before kickoff, and not bring a single personal item into the stadium.

Season tickets, will be in town that weekend, but not going. I feel bad, I want to see the team on the field and I want to support them. I'm a bad fan, I got that part.

However, it's not worth it to deal with CSU fans (my God, last year they were miserable after the game) AND an NFL stadium.

I've got two tix available. Rugged and/or Brad are welcome to them.

If ticket sales are low enough, the Denver Sports Commission (or whatever it's called) can end the game after 2014.
