What's your thoughts on the defense? We were so bad last year, but held the Lambs to under 300 yards this game.

Our D line was good...really held their own against a pretty good O line. Uzo may be all PAC12.

The D backs caused more than one coverage sack/pressure. Saw them playing with some swagger.

The LB were much better than I thought. Outside of a missed tackle towards the end of the game, they looked good.

Juda Parker with the coverage sack. Gillam gets sack credit thanks to a bad snap. I'd have to re-watch to see how much CSU accounted for Chidera and tried to neutralize him. I guess I was expecting him to knock Grayson on his ass more.

Great coverage though. Where was Vigo today? Not in the stats. Wondered how many snaps he got.

The D worries me going forward. The lack of pressure from the front 4 will be a major problem if it doesn't improve. The secondary looked much better though.

So happy that stupid illegal procedure and delay of game penalties were not stalling the offense.

Holding was a minor problem, but not a big deal.

the team showed poise. Substitutions were efficient.

and there was not even one QB sneak on first down...priceless.

my favorite play call was the victory foundation to finish up the game.

Edit: the booze must be kicking in. This is a defense thread. Oops.

For a first game against a huge and experienced line, thought to be a strength of CSU, they looked very decent. They ran a pretty straight pass rush and brought enough pressure, so that when combined with good coverage, the CSU QB was often down to his last check-off and often threw to the outlet guy. Witness Gilliam's work on that short pass on 4th down.

I think they will only get better and you'll see more creative blitzing added to the package.

Really happy with the effort and physicality of the defense today.

You will see some defensive struggles. Not enough pressure and they won't have the benefit of having CSU skill players in one-on-one situations every week.
