Tulsa smokes CSU, McElwhine on hot seat

I'd be surprised. I watched Tulsa last week and they looked awful. And guess who Tulsa's QB is:

Tulsa was not very impressive last week, that's for sure.

I think this is a toss-up game, as much as I'd like to see Tulsa mudhole CSU.

A have no idea who that is, Husker cast off I presume. Either way, despite how bad Tulsa may have looked have to remember they're playing the sheep and for as much of a hole we're trying to dig out of (19 page thread on Cent. Arkansas) we still clobbered the sheep by 17.

'Holic's right on this one.

I would not be surprised in the least if CSU gets smoked. Tulsa got blown out last week but they have more speed than CSU does and are at least a match otherwise.

Bigger is that Tulsa looks at this game as an opportunity to get back on the winning side at home, they will have a big edge in confidence. CSU on the other hand has a history of struggling in the game after playing CU. They put all their effors and attention into their "superbowl" and the following week have trouble getting it together.

Add to this that they can't help be be looking at next week when they get to take a beating from Bama'

As to Sparkles being on the hot seat their 150 fans who care may be upset about another season of losing but he isn't going anywhere. This is an athletic department that is already subsidized by about $15 million a year. They broke the bank to hire him giving him what for them was a huge contract. They are in a difficult spot because they are trying to raise funds for their stadium. On one hand losing is never good for fund raising but on the other hand lots of donors will say the same thing they did to CU, "If you have the money to pay somebody not to work what do you need mine for."

They are probably stuck with him for at least another year after this one even if they have a disasterous season or two.

If this season crumbles their stadium drive will as well. Its a house of cards. This game is huge for them and if they get smoked **** will hit the fan.

Perhaps Saban takes it easy on him next week?

When do they play?

Not because I really care but because if I see that they got smoked I'll probably be a little more nervous at gametime tonight.

Tulsa is a ten point favorite. Short week and road trip for the Rams. Could get ugly, IMO.

They weren't supposed to win this (Tulsa was favored by 10) but blowing a 27-17 lead in the 4th will have them pissed. That said, McElwain gets at least this year AND next year. At least.

Well they're gonna have to. Graham gave him a monster buy-out, for a non-bcs program at least

Yep. The irony is their fans are largely so pissed off due to McElwain and Graham spouting off all offseason about how vastly improved they were going to be. If McElwain had just been truthful about the state of that program and the long rebuild ahead, there probably wouldn't be nearly this much frustration. That fan base is incapable of comprehending that they lack talent in the worst way.

After taking that 27-17 lead into the 4Q, CSU had 3 (yes THREE) yards of offense for the entire 4th quarter

It's starting to look like they may not hit 4-8. They probably beat Cal Poly and UTEP at home. New Mexico and Hawaii are both on the road, but they'll have a chance. Nevada at home is a possibility. That's it as far as games they have any shot of winning.

Watched the end of the game, they blew it. They'll beat Cal Poly but will be 1-3 after the Bama game.
