Oregon with 4 first place votes in AP/3 first place votes in coaches

Oregon/Stanford worries me. I'm afraid the winner of that steps on their dick in another game and leaves tOSU/Bama as our MNC game representatives.
 
If the poll was just for fun for fans, I wouldn't care about it. I guess it's going the way of the college basketball poll, which is really "for entertainment purposes only" with a selection committee determining the post-season.

But there's definitely SEC bias. Seems early to have 1-loss SEC teams ranked over the likes of UCLA, Washington and Miami.
 
Georgia is ranked in the top ten. Mainly because they beat South Carolina at home. Funny how that works.
 
LSU is the best SEC team I've seen IMHO. Never know what will happen when them and Bama play tho. I think Oregon can play with any of them this time around.

That circular logic is fun to watch. Last year, when some posters suggested that the SEC might be overranked that season, with the support of ESPN, the SEC fan boys stopped by to explain that the SEC wasn't overranked at all. And also, they used the rankings of SEC teams as evidence.

Last year, they won their games over the ACC. This year, they haven't except for Bama's abuse of a VA Tech team that was lucky to beat Marshall.
 
SEC defenses are supposed to be grand, but it's been lights out so far this year. This apparently has no influence on voters.
 
What oregon would do to bamas D this year would make them beg for more manziel
 
The spin from SEC fans is hilarious. As Orr points out, they incessantly cite rankings as their main argument for the SEC not being overrated. I even saw a post on the Rivals Main Board saying Oregon needs to stop playing games after most people have gone to bed if they want respect... Oregon has yet to play a game in prime time or later this season.:lol:
 
I'd put Oregon up against anybody. Anywhere. I think Stanford might have some difficulty with Bama's speed, but I think they'd handle just about anybody else in the SEC. UW and UCLA the same. I'd love to see a Stanford/A&M matchup. Manziel up against that defense would be fun to watch.

Pac 12 top third of UO, UCLA, UW, and Stanford compares very favorably, IMO, to the SEC top third of Bama, LSU, A&M and Florida.
 
Personally I think there is an SEC bias but until a PAC or big10 team wins the ncg we can't say much

Of course we need some level of fairness in selecting the top 2 teams until we switch to the playoff model next year

You touch on the point in your second sentence. Oregon wasn't permitted to play in the NC game last year creating the self-fulfilling SEC prophecy.
 
If the Oregon/Stanford winner runs the table I don't think anyone would argue that they would be one of the top 2 teams and play in the MNC game. And the Pac is the only conference with 2 teams in the top 5.

serious question, SEC or CU, who do you like more?
 
The SEC looks down to me. The SECC will still get the benefit of the doubt is a tie situation-more than 2 undefeated/1 loss. I think the 2009 team is 14 points better than this years version.
