The Good, the Bad and the Ugly...plus Reality - Oregon State Game.

Let us get right to it.

The Good:

This Section will be short, I will go with Adkins performance. He is faster to the hole than Powell and slips through small seams. After that nothing was good.

The Bad:

It was mostly bad, CU faced a team that was one dimensional on offense, bad on defense and battling an inordinate amount of injuries to starters. Add the bonus that the weather was such that it helped negate the Beavers only dimension on offense. This game set up as an opportunity for the Buffs but the opportunity was squandered. The problems that were there early in season continued - no pressure on the QB, offense cannot run the ball effectively when it counts, and most importantly the QB play was, well lets just say it was bad. Add the continued poor special teams play and you have the result that you saw. I will also say the coaching did not impress me at all, Oregon State came out in the second half and had made adjustments - their first drive they went right down the field and scored. The sloppiness they had the first half was gone.

I could add about 5 more paragraphs in this section but you get the gist.

The Ugly:

For the third game in a row it was the special teams. When will it end.

The Reality:

CU still has a talent deficit relative to the rest of the PAC 12. That deficit was masked playing CSU and Central Arkansas, but there should of been a hint when we were losing to Central Arkansas in the 4th quarter. MacIntyre and his staff are not such miracle workers they can overcome that issue. Oregon State is probably in the bottom half of the conference talent wise and it looked like we could not match up with them. This is certainly a rebuilding process and will not be quick.

Can't disagree with anything you said. I thought the defense deserved some help yesterday. They were put in bad spots all day and we knew OSU would score a lot. Credit to them for continuing the trend of forcing turnovers.

Thought the D played very good in 1H but wind was helping negate CSU passing. Their stud WR caught 2 long ones in coverage.

Concerned that D lost focus as O continued to self destruct. Thought we were past that.

We saw bad CW again. Not confident CW. If I see that again I turn the page and start getting Sefo reps Ala Utah Utes last year..

One note to add to the Ugly section: Derrick Webb. Hate to single out a senior captain, but he doesn't make any plays.

We are like a ripe juicy tomato across the middle. Nobody can cover in the middle. That's on the safeties and lbs Henderson and Adkins were bright spots.

But the reason for both of these situations is our talent deficit.

Webb is definately a liability, he can't cover, misses tackles, and makes bad reads running himself out of the play frequently.

His deficiencies highlight how lucky we are to have Gilliam as a fr. LB who while still learning is already our best LB. It should be interesting to see how he develops for us along with Awuzie who didn't stand out yesterday but has played well for a true frosh.

Last year, all of our Lbs ran themselves out of the play frequently. I suspect that won't continue. We may have SR captains not getting PT... Baer won't tolerate it. That much I know.
