ASU to step up recruiting in Texas....

CU has pulled good players out of Texas in the past but I know a lot of Buff Fans think recruiting Texas should not be a priority. The Sun Devils do not agree.

ASU to recruit Texas

I found it interesting they had a plan and showed up with 20000 at Jerry's House.

Coach Graham is from Texas so it's understandable that ASU would go down that path. When Coach MacIntyre said that California would be treated as instate recruiting, I was concerned that would mean less of a focus on Texas recruiting. But there are already four Texans who have given CU their verbals. Utah does recruit Texas as well. We shouldn't take our eyes off Texas because suppose the Big 12 four joins the Pac-12...that means we will be playing mostly in Arizona and Texas in addition to Utah.

Some of Oregon's former playmakers have came from Texas and remember that Seastrunk who was at UO before transferring to Baylor? I'm sure UO is still wishing they had Seastrunk.

Stop with this crazy talk. It's not going to happen. Bringing it up again and again adds validity to a nearly impossible scenario. We need to stop thinking this is even a possibility.

You might peruse this link for how some fans regard recruiting Texas - this is just an example, that topic comes up frequently. CU in Texas.

I think many are missing my point. It is one thing to stop by Texas and offer kids, it is another thing to make it a point of focus. ASU is making it a point of focus. CU has lost that focus, IMO.

When Bill McCartney took over at CU he contacted Chuck Fairbanks for his perspective on Football at CU. Fairbanks told him he needed to focus on recruiting Texas and California. McCartney took that to heart although he had few contacts in those regions (he focused on Florida when at Michigan). If you are a recruiter then you build you contacts where you need to in order to be successful.

Anyone who doesn't think texas is huge for CU recruiting is out of their mind. ASU realizes it too. Its hard to go into Cali and get prospects over UCLA, Stanford and USC but its easier to go into Texas because let's face it, that place sucks and people want to get out.

The ignorance is strong with this one.

If Kansas knows for sure that they have a place in the Big Ten, the votes are there to disband that conference...the GOR wouldn't be able to stop that from happening. The Longhorn Network is a failure and like in many contracts, there is an out clause in the deal between ESPN and UT.

Also Graham needs to build up more Texas recruiting ties for when he inevitably throws his hat in the ring for the UT job...and I'm only half kidding.

KU doesn't have a place in the B1G. They don't add enough to the final equation. Not the way schools like ND and UVa do. Maybe they're part of a fall-back plan, but I'm sure they're not option 1 or 2.
