Did our 3 Pac-12 losses say more about CU or our opponents?

We got smashed in all 3 games.

At Oregon State.
Home vs Oregon.
At Arizona State.

Beavers are going to be 6-1 after tonight. They crushed a good Wazzu team the weak after playing us and are boatracing Cal tonight.

Oregon is on a collision course with the national championship game.

ASU beat Washington like a redheaded stepchild today.

I'm not saying that CU is better than we think. I'm saying that maybe we don't know. The teams we lost to would crush at least 90 of the other FBS teams this year.

Arizona in Folsom will tell us a lot next week.

If the Zona game is a blowout from the start, we got issues.

I agree.

I guess what I'm saying is that we're halfway into this season and I still don't know whether we suck or are mediocre.

It's all about scoring points. Wazzu is not good, but they were in games against OSU (3 quarters) and Oregon (2 quarters). Sefo will earn his stripes this season.

Arizona's giving Utah a very good game tonight. The same Utah team that knocked off Stanford a week ago. Dunno if that's the best measuring stick game for CU. I don't think we're a bad team, necessarily. Just the Pac-12 seems to be very strong, and most of the Conference games, we are likely to be overmatched. It's a ten team strong league this year.

Arizona seems like a game we COULD win. Will be disappointed if we get blown out at HOME against a middling Pac 12 team

We suck ... and are striving to be mediocre. Which IMO is the best we could expect this season. For one thing, the Pac 12 is getting stronger top to bottom (much like in basketball) ... so it's getting all that much harder to move up the ladder. For another ... the devastation imposed by the previous two coaching regimes is still manifesting itself (lack of speed, size, athleticism, etc.) and will take time to overcome. But I think Mac can do it.

If we win one conference game this year in addition to the three OOC games we've won, I'll be ecstatic.

If we win two conference games (by some miracle) ... I'll be ORGASMIC. :wow:

We should be competitive next week. All it takes is being in 1-2 games going into the 4th.

What scares me are the two long, time consuming drives Charleston had today. I don't think our D can stop even a mediocre offense. Oregon and ASU let off the gas.

I don't get the Pac12 network and I'm not streaming, but it appears Wilson is hurt for Utah? That was a very impressive game by Utah a week ago and they're certainly vastly improved, but I don't think Arizona being in a close game with Utah in Tucson (especially if Utah is playing their 2nd QB?) is quite an omen of doom. I mean don't get me wrong, it's a stretch to think we will beat Arizona, but I think we can be competitive and maybe with a couple lucky bounces find ourselves with a chance in the second half.

Our D was shaky early, but I thought they settled down nicely in the 2nd half. Given how unique their offense is, I think they'd catch a fair amount of FBS programs in a bit of disarray for a drive or two before the D gets a feel.

UA at home is a game we can win. Not saying we will, but we can. Unfortunately, the forecast right now is that it's going to be a beautiful night next Saturday, instead of 25 degrees.

Agreed much better in the 2nd half. Almost like we made adjustments.

Agreed...that's a huge game coming up. CU got to win that one if the Buffs are to go bowling this season. The Cal game and one of either USC or @Utah would be games that CU needs to win.

If UA whips CU, I think the CU fans will mail it in and switch to basketball mode.

Utah is playing with their second-string guy. The announcers were trying to blow it off because this Schulz guy was in a QB competition with Wilson, but there's a big drop off. Even so, UA is trying to give the game away.

Long drives are not the worst thing in the world for a defense, provided red zone defense is stout. TOP is the most overrated stat in college football.

Bowling?

I'd put OSU top 30 right now. They've clearly kicked into another gear over the last few weeks. That's what they do under Riley.

ASU is top 25 right now IMO

Don't think it's an omen of doom either, but do think it will be a very tough game to win. Wilson was having a fairly bad game before he got hurt; threw a pick 6 and had another INT. He can be very good, but has also had some very bad games (UCLA).

I hope we can be competitive and be in the game at the start of the 2nd half. That'd be a step in the right direction imo

What bothered me was continually giving up first downs on third and long. Especially allowing the QB to break up the middle for long first down runs. To our credit, the coaches detected the problem and corrected it.

That's a problem for sure. Hopefully it was an isolated incident today.

ASU maybe although that loss to ND sticks out to me. Newsflash, ND is not that good.

OSU's schedule gets significantly tougher now, let's see if they can win more than 1 of their last 5 games

ASU definitely ****ed up in losing to ND, no doubt about it. They're still going to have like a 9-3 record at the end of the regular season though. Washington isn't the top 10 team many were hyping them to be, but absolutely wrecking them by 29 points is quite impressive and they deserve credit for that.

Oregon State's schedule definitely toughens up, but I think they'll prove themselves to be competitive with the best down the stretch. Stanford had best be on guard for their trip to Corvallis next Saturday.

The Pac-12 is beating up on each other, but that's testament to the Pac being a deep, solid league this year. I see 6 teams that are top 25/fringe top 25 along with 3-4 others that are bowl caliber and potentially dangerous on any given night (i.e. Utah).

We are not that bad, at least compared to Cal.

I went to the Cal game last night and I now feel that our game with them should be a W for the buffs. They are very bad. OsU played horribly and cal couldn't get their own crap in one sock enough to take advantage. Cal should have won or lost a close one last nite but they played very flat and uninspired and got clobbered by a team having an off nite. The body language of the cal team was similar to ours last year. the buffs need to pounce on them when they come to folsome.
