As the leader in buffs fandom, I wanted to see what our group of people could raise for the facilities improvements. This would be a one time donation explicitly for the stated goal
.
Now some assumptions to make this work:

-CU has laid out a clear master plan for facilities
-CU has set up a website that illustrates the goal, and the progress accomplished towards that goal
-Donations can easily be done via Pay Pal or a direct withdrawl from a checking account

Please answer as honestly as possible, if the response is high enough I would like to send the averages to the AD.

The line from the SID is that our fans won't step up with their wallets and never have. Interested to see if thats true.

Thanks

I voted the first option, and that is on top of my season tickets. I would probably give more annually if they would do a monthly debit type deal.

Perhaps more granularity in the $10 - $499 option? That's a lot of range.

If I get a decent sized response to the poll and was going to send the info on to the AD I would probably have to assume the average in each range except the last. So if you were to base a decision I guess decide on +/- 250. Unfortunately I cannot go in and change the poll i don't think

I donate and don't even do season tickets anymore after I moved back to Virginia in 2011, so I donate more than I otherwise would since I don't spend on tickets much right now. I make games occasionally, but I wonder how many there are like me. I bet it's a pathetically low number.

And **** complainers who don't give a penny.

And any of the mods that can get this info, how many members does allbuffs have? Not just paying members, but all of them?

When I graduate, and assuming the stuff in the OP has been outlined, I'd go in the first option range on top of my season tickets.

So far the numbers are pointing exactly where I thought they would.

This is a microcosm of the entire site, not to mention the CU alumni base, but so far if I assume the average of each category we are at over $9000 in raised funds.

The AD has untapped money, and I think, based on a small sample size, lots of it.

I just don't think we have enough people that are willing to donate to CU. donor net only has 9,000 donors listed. If we had ever single donor give $10 a week for an entire year we are still only talking about less than $5 million dollars. And $10 is small enough that anyone should be able to donate that weekly.

Rick George and Bruce Benson are completely restructuring the fundraising and the donor lists

If I take you 891 people as accurate, then by applying the current assumed average across the total population at allbuffs, as a community we would be close to $550,000

I have never donated to CU except for my season tickets and probably never will.

Understandable point, especially given that a donation is built into your tickets. My question to you would be, if CU were to roll out a campaign for facilities upgrades and enabled you to provide a one time donation solely to that cause, would you change your mind?

maybe $20.00 .. something along those lines but
I don't like Mr. Magoo as a chancellor and I don't trust anything right now that comes out of the AD so probably not.

And to this point. CU produces somewhere around 12,000 alumni each semester. So lets go 10 years worth. That is 240,000 potential donors. If CU could get a quarter of that population, 60,000, to donate a one time $50 donation then we would be looking at 3,000,000. You up that to $10 a week as you stated, so $520 a year, then we would have $31,200,000. I think they could achieve that if they properly engaged the alumni base. Problem is they don't. At all. In most instances I have heard they treat potential donors with contempt and are generally rude. That is the problem.

The AD and school admin has neglected the team for such a long time. That is why we are in this hole. If you expand the numbers above to right after we won our NC. 23 years. That is somewhere close to 552,000 graduates. If CU convinced a quarter of them to donate that $10 a week? $71,760,000.

Its not rocket science. To me anyway. You include the group of people most likely to donate to your program. Make them feel part of the team. Don't make them feel like outcasts. Ask them for something that is relatively tiny, on a yearly basis. That number would be astronomical if you asked them to do that every year, instead of once.

I voted option #1. Already paying for season tickets and that was my commitment to CU for firing water bottle. Now CU needs to meet some of their commitments like announcing facility upgrades, improving the team and game day experience before I send them anything.

First there is no way CU generates 12,000 alumni each semester. We may graduate 5 or 6 thousands a Year.

Second, you are being extremely unrealistic. I bet you would have a hard time getting $1 from every member on allbuffs, or every student that ever went to CU. They all have their own reasons, but this is going to be funded by a small group of passionate people.

If CU has roughly 40,000 students on campus at any time, then it not unreasonable to assume they graduate around 12k. But either way the numbers still speak for themselves. I only accounted for 25% of the population. You are right not everyone will donate. Never going to happen, but I think you could get around 25% to contribute $10 a week. Especially if it was a 1 year deal.

But ok, if you take 10% from the group of alumni that graduated in 1990, assuming 6k graduate. Ask them to contribute even $5 a week, and assuming they never cancel because they are die-hard fans with steady jobs due to their outstanding education...

That would have added up to $3,588,000 by now. Not a huge sum, but you get 10% of the graduates each year since, and we have $43,056,000.

The numbers themselves don't matter much, it is more the principle. CU has not engaged their alumni base effectively.

where are you getting this 40k number? Are you counting CU denver kids? I am looking at undergraduate kids, here are some numbers:

With an enrollment of more than 30,000 students, the University of Colorado Boulder is the largest campus in the four-campus system
CU-Boulder’s fall 2011 entering freshman class numbered 5,663

http://www.colorado.edu/catalog/2012-13/information/intro

I guess I look it as we got to get them while they are young because even grad students may be more loyal to their undergrad school (or that undergrad school may already be CU)

I write 2 checks a year. One to the Business School and the other to the AD Scholly fund.

I've never encountered any rude behavior and I get phone calls, and letters on a regular basis from both "schools" thanking me for my donation and support.... I must be doing something wrong.

There is no way in hell you'd get 25% to contribute $10 a week. First of all, that's a lot of money and particularly so for someone fresh out of college. Second, as tante points out, lots and I mean lots of people wouldn't ever give any money to CU Athletics. I know I never have and probably never will.

I have heard lots of stories here about being ignored or being treated rudely by DiStephano on many occiasions. You're situation should be typical, and I don't think it is.

can I ask why you never have and never will. I think you are the exact type of person that Rick George needs to engage.

There are two reasons. One is personal and if you are really interested, I'd be glad to tell you in a pm, but I don't want to air it on a public forum. The other is that I have a limited ability to fund things that are important to me each year through charitable donations and I find it highly unlikely that CU Athletics will ever seem more important to me than certain other causes/funds.

But that's just me...

don't need to know your personal reason, but number two is what I expected. You feel like other causes are more important. I think we have a lot of fans that feel the same way.

Voted $2500 to $4999 range.. Have given that in the past and would be willing again + I have a kid that will be going there next year, along with my check book.
