This has bugged me for a long time. Not coincidentally for as long as CU's sucking streak. I believe teams that do not make a bowl game should be allowed a certain number of December practices. It seems like almost a self perpetuating disadvantage for a team that doesn't make a bowl. Teams in bowl games get a jump start on next season. UNFAIR I SAY!!!

Agreed, I think up until winter holiday would be fair. I do see the flip side of the practices being a reward. Like you though, the losing has gotten to me.

The only thing thats makes bowl practices tolerable is the bowl... This would be a tough sell with a lot of players.

Yeah. I don't know how you make that happen.

Seniors are done.

Players are pretty worn out mentally & physically.

On the positive side, you do get a jump on rehab from all the dings and get into the offseason conditioning program. Frankly, even though it's better to practice, our team probably needs an extra month of lifting weights more than it needs practice reps. We're small.

You are 100% correct.

I think there is a lot you could do that does not involve lots of hitting. Change things up, make it fun, work on different things, etc.

I think more practices in the Spring and Fall would be more advantageous than December.

Buffs would have time to install a new offense or gameplan for the first game.

how does it work with seniors? they are excused from practice?

Why is this any different than spring practice?

What!? THIS IS PAC 12 FOOTBALL!!! THIS AIN'T INTRAMURALS, BRUTHA! Listen, if this would be too tough for a team that hasn't been to a bowl game since 'tini was knee high to a grasshopper, then they shouldn't be here. Wait, isn't 'tini still knee high to a grasshopper?

I'd have thought we do strength and conditioning year 'round. When does the "no contact" period begin between coaches and players, BTW? (I understand they work with the strength coaching staff during the "no contact" period.

In-season conditioning is very different than off-season conditioning. Players don't generally make any strength gains during the season.

good point, nik. this team needs to rest and get bigger.

Some might go so far as to argue that it's better not to make a low-level bowl game...

Wasn't there some dude on this site hoping we would turn down the Independence Bowl invite to give the players more rest? I might be mis-remembering it though.

Was there? Sounds a bit familiar, but I don't really recall...
