Washington State Cougars (6-6) vs. Colorado State Rams (7-6)Dec. 21, 2 p.m. ET, Albuquerque, N.M. (ESPN)WASHINGTON STATE COUGARS BREAKDOWNWelcome back, Wazzu. Not since beating Texas in the 2003 Holiday Bowl have the Cougars been bowling. Their time away from the postseason was a trying time in Pullman, where fans clung to little hope for several years. Those days are over.In his second season, coach Mike Leach brought the program back to respectability, re-energized the fan base and now has a chance to take another step forward against Colorado State, which is led by another second-year coach, Jim McElwain.

Well maybe this will give Capri Bibbs an opportunity to further discuss his statements regarding CU's lack of success in Pac 12 play.

Oh wait, I forgot that it doesn't matter. We beat them in head-to-head competition. Carry on.

Whatever the over is....I'll take the over. This is going to be a high scoring game IMO.

Bowl games are traps. If WSU treats this as the great reward for their season and doesn't prepare and take it seriously, CSU will run it down their throat.
If WSU treats this as an opportunity to make a statement and prepares properly, they will win by 35 or more.

This is probably the best matchup for CSU vs a Pac-12 team. Least talent differential and Holiday might go off the deep end like he tends to do. Arizona would have destroyed them by 30

Congratulations to both teams for making a bowl game. If it were against a non PAC 12 team I would pull for the Rams.

Pirate Mike v. Sparkles...I'll be tuning in.

That's what they are hoping for.

Last time CSU played in the New Mexico bowl it had the lowest national TV ratings of all the bowls excluding the one with the Sun Belt champion.

How is this man in the red?

I don't really like how CU was used to make a point in that article, but I get it too.

Just confirms csewe is always measured in relation to the flagship. Even when we are down, they are still second fiddle.

I'm really impressed with MacElwaine. As crappy as CSU is he managed to win enough games in a crappy conference to go to a crappy bowl.

fify

Considering that they went 3-9 in that same crappy conference the prior 3-4 years if I remember correctly it is a major step up.

If he repeats it next year losing most of his OL and DL he will probably be out of town in a flash and on to his next stepping stone in the coaching business.
