I have started threads like this on a Pac-12 board to talk Pac-12 basketball. We are several weeks away from conference play so I thought it'd be a good time to get warmed up.

Some really excited games this week. So Oregon State plays three teams from MD and two of them go to Corvallis, wow. Yes, I know they schedule a DC trip every year so Craig can see his bro-in-law, but I could be wrong here, OSU hasn't visited Coppin or UMES.

Recapping what has happened this week:

Utah, Cal, and UA have won their games. Tomorrow, the Buffs get Elon...I would hate to see a letdown with Okie State and Georgia looming.

As everyone knows, UA is #1 in the AP poll, Utah has only lost one game so far which was a two point loss at Boise State, but Cal hasn't been that impressive in OOC play since they just lost at surf powerhouse UC-Santa Barbara.

You mean like this one? Link

I didn't mean to take over but I didn't see any Pac-12 discussion and this is Pac-12 focused. I'll see if this sticks over the next few weeks before I make it permanet if that is what people want.

Perhaps an excuse for Obama to get away from DC and that ObamaCare mess. I haven't visited the other Maryland schools but I did watch some Georgetown games at the then-MCI Center.

If you could start a Mountain Time Zone MBB week 6 thread, that would be awesome. :bang:

GTown has probably only sold out the Verizon Center on one hand, maybe a few fingers on the second since they moved there from Capital Centre. Going to CP isn't really getting out of DC, you can see the Washington Monument from the upper deck of Byrd.

What about this one then? Link

Not into SOS rankings but threads usually run their course over many pages. Like I said, I'll just give this at least a few weeks and if it sucks here, I'll just stop. I'm not intending to draw attention away from those threads.

I have a feeling it'll end up somewhere else long before then

I could but I love the Pac-12 basketball brand.

I did sit there once during the 2001 Clemson game...I didn't bother to see the Mounment...after being there for sometime, the Mounment is just there as the mountains on the west side of town in CO.

Ha I'd rather look at the mountains, just saying, CP is a DC suburb and right in the Beltway.

Pretty sure based off of your past posts that you have been to every game possible. That's impressive to be a two places at once.

I hear you man, I just typically avoid threads with 20+ pages but that's just me.

Let me give you a little insight into the AllBuffs board: just go to the last page and look at the last few posts. You won't miss much.

I would compare that to throwing a 70 mph fastball right down the strike zone, I walked right into that one

One note Georgia is not "looming" they may well be worse than Elon.

I think Elon is probably more threatening because they've got a guy or two who can make it rain from the bonusphere. They're the top team in the SoCon (you know, the conference with Davidson). Georgia is pretty damn bad, you wouldn't come close to using up the fingers on one hand counting teams worse than them in a weak SEC. They've been deteriorating for 3 seasons. Sure, anything can happen, but we should beat Georgia by double digits. I'm just hoping the Dawgs can stay above 200 in the RPI. 150 looks like a stretch.

Jalapeño,

Any chance you can do a basketball metrics thread. Maybe win shares, offensive rating if players, stuff like that.

I hate posting in this thread, but that's where we were talking about. Am I the only one worried about Elon? Small crowd (I'll admit it, I have a final at 7:30 am so I will not be in attendance) and a possible hangover effect after Kansas.

I think naturally people are worried about CU "overlooking" this one and the "hangover effect." I'm just saying look at this from a perspective of an Elon, how confident are you on going to Boulder and coming out with a W?

Utah whipped BYU. They are 9-1 on the season so far. UO took care of Illinois.

This was a very good weekend for the conference. I'm thinking the PAC is going to have a good season in basketball.

Just an FYI - this was Week 7 of the season, not Week 6.

If you do a new thread tomorrow, it really should be Week 8.

Just an FYI - this was Week 7 of the season, not Week 6.

If you do a new thread tomorrow, it really should be Week 8.

Week 1: November 8-10
Week 2: November 11-17
Week 3: November 18-23
Week 4: November 24-December 1
Week 5: December 2-8
Week 6: December 9-14
Week 7: December 15-22

The Pac-12 schedule tends to have teams playing on Thursday-Saturday and Friday-Sunday during conference play. For instance, if the LA schools are visiting Boulder, suppose UCLA plays on a Friday, that means the USC game would fall on a Sunday. It appears to me that the conference runs on a Monday-Sunday schedule instead of Sunday-Saturday schedule. The Big 12 schedule usually had games on Monday-Saturday with very few games on Sunday which appears to be different from the Pac-12. I believe that the Pac-12 ought to do Monday-Saturday instead of Monday-Sunday. I don't like the idea of games on Sundays but that's the way the Pac-12 does things.

If the Pac-12 followed the Big 12 scheduling as explained above, it'd be a Week 8 thread instead of Week 7.

Hopefully that clarifies how I number the weeks.

Or you could just join threads already in discussion instead of making things confusing by adding a redundant thread.
