Pac-12 play starts today

I'm really anxious to watch Oregon vs. Utah. Even though Utah has played a terrible schedule and their record is grossly inflated (St. Katherine a NAIA school, really?), they are much improved with Delon Wright and Loveridge leading the way. Both are good players in our league..

If Utah makes it tough for opposing teams to win, it will only benefit the Buffs when they come to Boulder. I hope Utah forces a grinder game and makes Oregon really work and use their bench.

Picking 7 Pac-12 teams for the Dance?

That's at the high end of the range. I was thinking 5-7, likely 6.

I'm really excited about conference play -- this is where college hoops gets special. I am very much hoping to look at the standings tonight after getting home and see the Buffs part of a five-way tie for 1st (childish, but I find myself checking the standings repeatedly even when my team is 1-0).

I do have to pick on the linked article though (not sure who the author is, notice they didn't put byline):

Oregon’s SOS – It has to improve. Or perhaps better said: it’s going to. They’ve drawn the Arizonas, Bay Schools, and UCLA twice while escaping Colorado.

"escaping Colorado" -- we all know the Ducks are coming to the CEC on Sunday, but so did the author when mentioned under point #1.

"drawn the Arizonas, Bay Schools, and UCLA twice" -- I'm from the East coast so my geography could be struggling, but I would think the "Bay schools" in the Pac-12 are Stanford and Cal -- both of which are the Duck's schedule exactly once. The author is correct about UCLA and the Arizona's being on there twice.

every article on that blog is written by Adam Butler who also moonlights for us. Can be found on twitter @PacHoopsAB - you should hit him for clarification of the statement.

That explains how he knows about Jelly's nickname.

The author - me - was really worried he had screwed that up. The thought process was such that I only had AZs and UCLA on there and then was like "that looks like a short list, I assume they play the Bay schools twice." Well you know what happens when you assume?
