Gardena (Calif) Serra LB Dwight Williams landed offer No 1 from #Colorado, sophomore was NikeCamp MVP

Williams is likely a top 20 recruit in California for the 2014 class. As Biggins says, he was the LB MVP at the LA Nike Camp and he was also a standout at the Vegas 7-on-7 tournament.

Gardena (Calif.) Serra linebacker Dwight Williams, who impressed us a week ago at the NLA Elite 7on7, was named the MVP for the linebackers at Cerritos College, and it was clear he had the best performance on the day. Williams was good in the individual drills, showing good agility and athleticism and looked real fluid and stepped it up in the 1on1's. Williams, who's about 6-1, 200, looks noticeably bigger than when we saw him in the fall, but moved very well.

Serra is a high school powerhouse in So Cal. We have three current direct connections to them with Jashon Sykes, Paul Richardson, and Woodson Greer, all alums. Additionally, Deon Figures also attended Serra several years ago. Plus you have other players like Robert Woods and Marqise Lee currently starring at USC.

Can't watch the vids at work so can't judge for myself.

6'1" 200lbs is still pretty small for a PAC level LB. Does he project to bulk up enough to play LB at this level or does he have the speed to be a killer safety? Hybrid?

The kid is only a sophomore, he's got a lot of time to add weight.

Williams had a monster junior season: 158 tackles, 13 TFL, 4 FF, and INTs. Not surprisingly, he has the attention of the entire PAC-12.

Really athletic and fast. Big hitter too.

http://olemiss.247sports.com/Article/2014-West-Coast-LB-Dwight-Williams-talks-Ole-Miss-115984

Junipero Serra (Calif.) High School standout linebacker Dwight Williams is a big San Francisco 49ers fan and a huge follower of former Ole Miss great Patrick Willis.

“That’s my favorite linebacker,” Williams said. “I know he came from Ole Miss, and look at him now.”

Mr. Williams, I believe a certain new PAC-12 head coach would be willing to talk to you about Patrick Willis.:wink2:

Mora and company is recruiting lights out right now, combine that with another good season and its going to be tough for anyone to get out of SoCal

I think he probably stays in LA but with the pipeline that USC has with Serra, if they offer I'd probably bet on them

FWIW, his stock dropped quite a bit as his senior season played out. Questions about desire and toughness.

Are people really knocking Williams in this thread? Really?

He is a very good prospect, but read/look at the evaluation on Scout. A lot of teams backed off. Even UCLA fans were pretty lukewarm in landing him. We would love the problem, but that's the difference between the haves and the have nots.

That's very fair. I commented because it was turning into people assuming he was a HaLkins type recruit. If HaLk had filled classes with guys like Williams, he'd probably still be coaching here or have moved on for a higher-paying job elsewhere.
