Defensive aggression

Two games in a row, at least, we have gone to the line WAY more than the opponent. While it is great that we get to the line so often, is it a sign of a problem that the other team does not? Could it me that we aren't nearly aggressive enough on defense? Another indicator is that team after team seems to just rain threes on us. There has to be a reason for that.

With the new rules, I'd rather get beat by the three than the other team taking 30+ free throws (unless we are playing North Carolina) and putting our guys in foul trouble.

Also, when our shots aren't falling on the road, it is nice to get freebies at the free throw line and put the other team in foul trouble.

Also, 3pt shooting teams don't usually win many tourney games because it is really hard to be hot every game.

Or could it be based on where shots are taken from? We shots more of our shots around basket, they took 3's.

I've heard several instances that Tad hates giving up lay-ups. I figure that we tend to overprotect the paint which leaves people with space to fire threes.

The sky is truly falling. Teams are raining threes on us. Teams are playing zone against us.

And we keep beating those teams. Lighten up, folks.

I don't think that the CU coaches and players have adjusted very well to the new defensive rules. CU is an average defensive team this year. A lot of it is youth and not having Dre, but the interior defense is better than it has ever been and yet the overall numbers are still mediocre. Teams shooting very well from the perimeter against the Buffs and often having a guy absolutely go off has now happened enough to be something other than "luck". It's at least a trend and maybe even a fact of what this team is.

I've been thinking of digging into the real numbers over this from the last few years (but it's worse this year) if anyone is interested.

I think they are very well coached, so they don't make dumb fouls...desperate blocks, reach ins etc. Our O is also good enough to where teams feel desperate or are outmatched. #RollTad

Scott and Gordon always go straight up. Very good at not fouling.

Ski gets lost a lot on the perimeter, and we struggle fighting through screens and closing out, but our defense is also very good at helping and I'm glad we don't give up anything easy (although giving up open high school 3 after 3 might be defined as easy).

I don't agree with this. he is turning into a good perimeter defender and when he does he beat it is because he has to help inside. Remember giving up a layup is way worse than giving up a 3 in Tad's defense scheme.
