Lower them Cal style? he's right, if you are too dumb to get in you are too dumb to get in, but their athletes have lower average grads and scores than their gen. pop. so maybe they grant more flexibility.

Within my own family i can attest to this so if he wants to reg and PM me tell him to feel free.

This is what he's saying - that athletes have the same entrance requirements as all other students. There is zero chance that is true. I tried to explain that not everyone races to the bottom (there's a reason the NCAA had to implement minimum standards), but that everyone who is serious about sports relaxes entrance requirements to some extent. He indignantly disagreed.

Do you have any links showing the athlete GPAs and test scores vs. gen pop?

Nothing recent but when Sherman was at furd the average SAT score for the football team was 1100.

A close friend of mine got in as a middle class white male with a 1200 and a 3.5 in highschool, because he had athletic ability and they wanted him to walk-on; how many average white guys from upper middle class families with those numbers get in 1? zero?

Found it. They do a better job of keeping their standards up than most, but the football team's average SAT score is 300 or so points lower than the average student.

990 1st SAT attempt, 1060 retake. Thing is that makes him a genius compared to most other NCAA D1 football players. Not so much compared to the founders of Google.

The 1100 average SAT was from the early 2000's too. Probably was lowered when Harbaugh took over.

I think your friend is right--they don't lower admission requirements at LJSU.

But if he's additionally suggesting that their athletes compete equally in the admissions process (back to Abs point) then you should point and laugh.
