Buffs come in 14-9 (4-8) holding onto tourney dreams by a thread. RPI of 73.

Washington is 13-10 (6-6) with an RPI of 90.

In the previous meeting, Buffs lost 71-81 in Seattle.

This is one the Buffs absolutely have to win. That's the case with the rest of the regular season.

For those who can't make the game and didn't get dinner reservations for V-Day, the game is on Pac-12 Network and with coverage starting at 6:30 MT.

Buffs lead 40-39 at the half.

CU is only 1/7 from 3pt range. Can't have a cold 2nd half or this one's going to be very tough.

Reese only took 2 shots and didn't score. 2 fouls so didn't play much. Also limited with 2 fouls were B-Wil (3 pts) and Haley Smith (2 pts).

Swan led the way for us with 13 off the bench and Arielle had 7. Getting work done inside and had a nice rebounding edge.

Not a good 2nd half. Were down by 10+ before getting back to 5 before losing. Swan had an impressive game. She was unstoppable and I don't know why she didn't play more. Had at least 25 points. I don't see them as an NCAA team at his point but could have a good NIT run.

Put a fork in them as far as the NCAA is concerned.

Can still finish strong and get home NIT, but that's a big letdown from where expectations were this year. This is where you find out about the heart of a team.

It's tough to describe how decimated this team was by injuries. Even those getting minutes are injured.

CU's defense is not close to last season's team. That really was apparent tonight. CU scores 80 points at home and looses. They out-rebounded UDub and didn't commit a ton of turnovers, but couldn't defend Plum and Davis.

Jamee Swan was brilliant on offense - 25 points in only 18 minutes - but needs to be smarter on defense so she can keep herself in the game.

I figured CU's NCAA tourney hopes were done when they lost the ASU game and whnt to Utah and lost with both being winnable.

Yes defense was horrible. I think a one point Washington had like 8 layups in a row. I really would like to know the total amount of layups they had. It was unbelievable. They just kept dribbling right around who ever was guarding them like they were standing still.

And how is Alexis Ashley getting minutes in a pretty big game for a better team and she never saw the court except for garbage time at CU? Good for her though. Glad to see her get to play some.

They also didn't have a go to player who can create their own shot like Brittany Spears and Chucky J could. Washington had 2 last night and the Buffs couldn't stop them.

Yes, Washington did and CU didn't. But had CU played D the way they did last season I don't think the Huskies would have been getting to the basket as often or getting as many looks from the perimeter. I will argue that CU didn't need a player or two that could create their own shot to win. They needed a team defensive effort - which would include rotating/helping out when one defender is built. Last night CU scored 80 points, for them that should be enough to win, especially on their home floor.

Atchley was a walk-on at CU and transferred. I think I heard from the announcers that she is on scholarship at UDub.

This team does not have a leader or a go to player down the stretch. I realize that many of the players are injured, but what happened to the defense? I know Lappe preaches defense and it is not being played.

Usually they can't score enough points to win. This game they did and lost because two players scored so many points.

Ashley Wilson's first career double double got overlooked in a loss as did a beautiful game by Jamee Swan. I also wondered why she got yanked when she was so hot.

Defense wins. I know that going back to the Ceal Barry era and CU is not playing defense for 40 minutes.
