Starting lineup at Stanford

bored and my Hokies got killed again -- figured it was time to start talking about Stanford over here. Besides, I have a call with Asia coming up and could use a distraction. :wink2:

Any changes to starting lineup from Utah?

Scott
X. Johnson
Booker
Thomas
Talton

Wes needs to be ready.

I like our matchup if he's able to guard Powell. If not, not so much.

Hoos are ahead of Duke, Cuse and UNC by 3 games if you want to have an extra win or two

I hope he is. I like Gordon a lot -- gives an inside presence that the Buffs don't have with Scott alone. I assume he'd start over Thomas?

Hey, that would be great -- we could get out of last place for conf tourney seeding -- as if that would do any good. I'm still happy for the ACC regular-season champion Virginia Cavaliers. This VT hoops season is testing my fan-hood and I can't wait for it to end -- but the sh**ty year the Hokies are having definitely helped me climb aboard the Buff-bus quicker.

If healthy, he starts.
On the AD's game notes it listed DT as a "Probable starter", and had wes as a reserve.
On that note, Fletcher is also listed on the "reserves" list, leaving the mayor as the only one left on the "injured" list. So maybe fletch will give us a few minutes.

It's tough following MD hoops this year, I can only imagine VT. Probably one good thing to come of this is they'll be more likely to get rid of the guy they thought could do better than Seth Greenberg.

Hey if you add up Maryland and Hokie ACC win totals you're only 6 wins below UVA (Sorry, can't resist. Have to enjoy final Maryland trash talk)

Terps have been a massive disappointment this year. I was too young to remember the dark days post-Len Bias, this is the lowest point I can recall. It's hard to believe an entire class will go without seeing the Terps in a Tourney game (bearing an very unlikely ACC run).

No reason for their record to be this bad. Talent was there to get in the Dance. I imagine Turgeon is feeling the heat.

Yeah, they should've been a bubble team at minimum. When they lost to Oregon State then Boston U, you knew they were in trouble. They looked better as the year went on, but close losses just don't cut it. Turgeon still has good recruiting classes, so he has that going from him. But seeing the downtrend from year 2 to year 3 is discerning to say the least. He's definitely feeling some heat, but there hasn't been any riots on Route 1 demanding his ouster yet. For better or worse, he'll be there for a while, he's got a guaranteed 7 year contract and given the financial situation it will be hard to buy him out.

If he doesn't start and play confidently on that knee, we're cooked.

Does he have a knee problem now, too? I've been traveling and missed the Utah game. Did something happen beyond the ankle injury?

Doesn't affect the starting line up, but The Mayor is on this road trip. Has been given medical clearance for travel. Could be helpful to have him there, also now that he is off crutches I would hope he could be a bit more involved in huddles. Won't help on the court, but maybe enough off the court to push us in the right direction.

Guessing we'll see him the rest of the season, hopefully RG budgeted enough dollars here so he can travel with the team the rest of the way (I kid).

I would like to see someone start in place of Talton. He's been awful lately.

You still feel that way after his performance last night? He's all we have at that spot. Who do you want to start? JHop is not a PG, right now.

Not yet, but if he takes the offseason seriously and gets adjusted to the speed it takes at this level, he has all the tools to be a top tier PG. Like Spencer, he creates some matchup nightmares because of his athleticism and size. He has to want it and he has to want to get better. Maybe before the Mayor takes off for the NBA he can get Jaron set up on whatever program he was on.

Talton did a pretty good job on defense last night. He was closing on the shooter much better than he has in the past.

I think we are all going to be very thankful that Talton has been getting these minutes next year when he is an upperclassmen.

He also poured in 8 points and had a few key rebounds. If I remember, he drained that open 3 that finally broke them from the scoring slump in the 2nd half.

Talton really worked hard defending Randle...no crazy turnovers and a big 3 in the game....I think people need to respect that he plays within himself and doesn't try to do too much

Is Talton this year's 'ski? People griping about him, but it's not like he's having a horrible year. Remember what he was like last year? I think he's turning into a very solid contributor. He's the kind of guy you want to have come off the bench, but if needed to play big minutes, he won't lose the game for you.

One of my first thoughts as well....hope he comes out and does a defensive number Saturday on Crabbe. Would like to knock Cal squarely off the fence.

This year's ski is ski, dt, Talton, or Jhop depending on the game. We have upped our expectations. These young players should meet or exceed out expectations. I don't care that they already have 21 wins. They need to all average 17 ppg and shot better than 50%
