FYI Pac-12 network replaying our games right now. 8am Cal, 9am Central Arkansas, 10am Charleston Southern, 11am Cal

Interesting stuff in the paper about spring games in general. More and more schools are choosing not to have them. Kevin Sumerlin says they are "worthless." Then he said something to the effect of this: "Why play a game where starters have to play against guys who will never play." I just thought that was kind of a weird message to send to the guys "who will never play."

CU needs it as a publicity and recruiting day. aTm, not so much.

Interesting take by Sumlin.

A spring game will never be like a "real" game, you don't have an opponent to get ready for, it doesn't end up in the record books, the rules are not the same, and the crowd is smaller and doesn't have to worry about a win or loss.

None the less I think that it helps the kids to practice in a situation that simulates a game situation. They have some emotion from the crowd, they have at least a sense of team and a scoreboard.

For some of the guys it is also a kind of reward for working hard during the spring practices. As a college player the ratio of practice and drill time to game time is very unbalanced. You work your butt off for those moments of game time, for those chances to put on the uniform and play the game. Again it isn't the real thing but if I can give my players a chance to have some fun, something to look forward to in spring drills and something to look back on over the summer then it is worth it.

Bless P12 Network. Yeah CU Spring Football.

I'm guessing ~2000 fans at opening.
Black team all black look w/ black helmet. Gold team in white w/ Gold helmet.

Gerke QB Black w/ Powell at RB.
Lufau QB w/ Tony Jones, Spruce & Goodson

They are running plays at a very fast pace. Hawkins teams couldn't put together plays this fast on a highlight film

Gehrke didn't look bad, Sefo so far looks like he is ready to take another step forward, nice drive.

TD Sefo to Goodson. 90 yrd drive. Efficient drive. End of 1st Q. Gold up 7-0

Still worried about Lindgren. Excellent calls the first drive for the White team then the play calling on the next two are pathetic. The dude outthinks himself. If it works, keep doing it!

Now we've heard it all

Black defense - Gillam, Witherspoon, awuzie, severson, Gregory, wilson, Tupou

Reed has tree trunks for legs

Was thinking the same thing. He is much bigger than I thought he was.

The PA system at Folsom sucks, I can't hear a word Distefano or George are saying.

Bryce Bobo is 1H standout. Freshman has speed, balance, and knack for catching the ball.

Bobo looks like a DI receiver. I hope he gets plenty of looks once things get real.

Edit: What Skid said.

Running game from Powell, Adkins, Jones getting stuffed. No RB standout yet.
