Has anyone here seen Wilkey play?

Judging by his twitter, he seems to be all about the Buffs if we offer.

Adam should have a new interview article with him posted to Rivals by tomorrow morning.

Paging sackman and 'holic. With Silver Creek at 4A now it will be interesting to see them and Longmont High go at it. I expect a full report for how our prospects on both sides are matching up.

"I went to their Junior Day and Spring Game and I also went there for a game last season, their homecoming game," Wilkey said. "I have been talking to [CU cornerbacks coach] Andy LaRussa a lot because he is our area recruiter. He has been sending me some handwritten notes, just really positive stuff.

Also of note is that he's a 4.0 student with plans to do poli sci and then law school. He specialized on the DL last year, so his senior year will be his first playing varsity OL.

Next month, we'll see if he earns a scholarship offer at the CU camp. If that happens, a commitment would not surprise me.

I spend most of my time watching BHS get it's ass kicked. I'd really like to take in a few LHS games this year. They usually have a pretty decent squad, and Silver Creek moving up a classification should make for some good football.

Oh, how I wish we could establish a Boulder County league where teams like BHS and LHS would play every year. That would be great. It apparently used to be that way, but the city of Boulder hit a growth spurt in the 60's, and had way more students than Longmont had. In the last 15 years, Longmont has actually passed Boulder in numbers of students (not overall residents, but school age students). The school district decided to build new high schools (Mead, Silver Creek) as opposed to enlarging existing schools at LHS and Skyline.

But I digress. If I can get to see this kid play this year, I'll do so. No promises, though.

We did play Fairview either my JR or SR year at LHS. That was '90 or '91. Curb stomped 'em.

Used to be a nice little feeder school for Buff linemen/linebackers (Eric Coyle, Vince and Wayne Rafferty, Greg Biekert) back in my day.

Back then, LHS was basically an automatic commit if CU offered, but that was when an 18 year-old (or younger with a fake ID) H.S.'er could drive to Boulder and hang out with the college girls at the 3.2 bars on the hill. Pretty easy decision after that experience...

Those would have been dark times for FHS. Pagano was gone, and BHS won the state title in 91, so they had cornered the market for high school football talent in Boulder. That pendulum has, unfortunately, swung back. Due in no small part, I feel obligated to add, to their coach - a BHS grad.

Picked up his first offer

Looks like he's camping at Cal this weekend too

Sorry guys. Haven't seen them.

would have to be a real stud to get an offer given his position switch. We've seen how big of an adjustment it's been for Nembot who has an NFL body and ridiculous athletic ability.

From the All-Colorado photo shoot ...

On training with McChesney: "From when I started going, a lot of people have joined. I've been coming here for about two and a half months and it's helped me a lot. I've lost some weight and got a lot faster and stronger. I wouldn't be where I am without Matt and Six Zero Strength. I'm down to 300 now and I was around 325. I'm going to try to play at 300 for the season so I can be a lot faster and move."

This is a kid I'm keeping an eye on for his senior year. Ideal size to be a RT in D1. The question is whether he's got the agility to play in the Pac-12. There's almost nothing to go by since he'd played defense before this season.

He's a monster. Wilkey probably had the largest frame at the All-Colorado photo shoot.

Nice to see a talented kid who is willing to work. Working in the classroom, working with McChesney.

Hope it turns into an opportunity he wants. San Diego is a good place to spend four years and get an education but I hope that the time with Matt advances him enough that he can play at a higher level.

Well said. +1. Hope Tanner makes it to the Pac 12.

Could he be a good grey shirt candidate

Goes back to Nik's post. Does he have the agility to go with the size. If he has the raw athletic ability it looks like we are finally starting to develop the depth that would allow us to develop an OL guy for a couple years.

The 6'7" and losing weight down to 300 is interesting.
