The Joys Of Being Charlie Strong Right Now

This article is the most unintentionally hilarious thing I have read all day. "Coach D" is possibly my favorite person on Earth. It's obvious he was one of Mack's boys and Strong hasn't shown him enough love yet. He takes every opportunity he can to **** on Charlie.

I think we need to figure out who Coach "D" is and make sure MM puts him on speed dial.

Sounds like things aren't getting any better. Strong spoke at a big coaching clinic in Texas and apparently bombed.

Those in attendance didn't seem impressed by Strong’s time on the stage. Maybe it was coincidence, but someone let out a loud laugh just as Strong wrapped.

“I think everyone was shocked. It was that bad,” one coach told me later.

“It made me miss Mack,” one joked.

Another: “If I was the coach at Texas, I would act like I had bigger balls than that.”

So at first he is not conciliatory enough, and then he doesn't have big enough balls? It seems like he can't do anything right with that group. I love Charlie Strong...I just can't put my finger on what they don't like about him.

His teeth aren't yellow enough?

It would be tough for anyone to follow one of the most successful coaches in UT history.

Sometimes, even winning isn't enough.

Throw race and the lack of Texas ties into the equation and he's in a very tough spot. Fortunately for Strong, he's got the coaching chops to make it work and millions of reasons to put up with the bull****.

For a minute I thought this quote (from coach B) was really weird:

I think it’s really important. I’m not a Texas grad or anything like that but I think Charlie Strong is the face of the state, as much or more than the governor.

But, then I remembered a conversation I once had. I met a girl and we started talking about where we're from etc. When I said, "Colorado", she said, "No way, you don't have a Colorado accent". I was thinking, huh?, so I asked her to explain. She said I didn't sound anything like Dan Reeves.

So, I guess I can buy that Mr. Strong is now the national face of Texas.

Coach D is awesome, but I think he's still less likely to point his kids toward Colorado than other Texas universities.

Sumlin and Aggie are taking full advantage of their recent success and Texas' slide. They are using #WRTS (We Run This State) for recruiting commit tweets, etc.

Mack was loved by those HS coaches, he made them feel like he was one of them and they were like him. A big club of Texas good ol' boys doin' it the Texas way. Even when Texas was losing they always liked Mack, they just wanted to replace him with somebody who would win more games.

Charley Strong isn't the guy those coaches would go out an' do some bass fishin' with. It is true that if he wins a couple of B12 titles and beats the Sooners nobody will care. He's will be fine at that point.

aTm is doing a good job cleaning up the top recruits in the state and will continue to do well. That said if Strong can get Texas back into contention for the big bowls and national recognition Aggie can forget about "running this state." UT will always be the #1 program in the state, all other things being even close to equal.

There is just so much weird with A&M. I have a hard describing that place to people who have been there. Not a bad school but the town is a like red neck twilight zone.

You mean your wife and daughter aren't already working on picking out Buffs bridesmaid dresses?

If these two didn't do it, I doubt we'll see the day. At least they brought Chip. Congrats to them.
