Sefo heading to Manning Passing Academy

Hopefully he gets some one on one with the Mannings. HCMM's friendship with them could be a boon for us.

Sure, he struggled last year, but Connor Wood apparently had an amazing time there last year. Said he learned a ton.

Wood improved his accuracy a ton and was throwing a very catchable ball. His problems were not things that get fixed at a camp. Some guys are cool under pressure. Some aren't. That's the QB gene scouts talk about when saying whether a guy has "it".

How do camps like this usually work? It says 1,200 campers which makes his attendance not seem that special. Then later on it says 43 current quarterbacks. Is there like a youth section and a section for college guys or what?

With 120 FBS teams, 43 seems like a lot more select group. It's cool to get Sefo in there. Peyton Manning personally extended an invite for Wood to HCMM last year. The Mannings and Mac2 go back a ways because MacIntyre recruited Eli to Ole Miss. Archie even called MacIntyre personally to give a report on Wood's progress. I'm really glad to see we've got some kind of pipeline to the best quarterbacking family in football history. The Archi, Peyton and Eli all seem incredibly likable, knowledgeable and they are/were extremely talented players.

I certainly don't have a total answer to this question but I remember hearing about Wood's experience last year, and basically the college QBs are trainers or coaches to the HS QBs. But the college QBs also get to do drills and get coaching from the Mannings et. al.

I think it is sweet that we seem to have an in now to get our starting QB to this thing. It puts our QB on the map where they get to interact with other leading college QBs and to build their leadership and confidence. I remember Wood saying he realized he could compete with the top tier guys after doing the drills with them. As was already said, he didn't totally turn the corner but he did improve as a result.

Given that Sefo has the intangibles that Nik is talking about, the benefit for Sefo's participation may be better. Either way it is cool he is going.

Listening to the audio recording, sounds to me the camp is more for the youth and high school kids. HS coaches and colleges QBs are there to mentor and shared their experience.

I'm sure their will be time for the big boys to show off their skills before or during camp, but it sound more of the camp is for the young guys, having the who's WHO of college football (the current Heisman winner, future candidates, and our youngest captain in CU history and maybe in college football for 2014 separate this camp from any other in the country.

They said via email "that's not how we handle the media" when asked if anyone could comment on a player's performance.

I love having our young quarterback at this camp. He will gain confidence from these events regardless if it is to mentor younger players or to be coached.

BTW, Garrett Grayson is going to be there too so maybe they can discuss the upcoming RMS game.

@BruceFeldmanCFB: #Beaver QB won Elite11 Counselor Challenge too RT @SeniorBowlPhil Sean Mannion outdueled BrandonBridge for ManningAcademy QB Challenge title

He's definitely got some accuracy, and his mental makeup isn't in question. I wonder if he ends up getting drafted at the end of his college career. It's probably too early to say one way or another, but that'd be pretty cool. Who was the last CU QB to be drafted?

Koy? Klatt sure likes to tell us about the five minutes he spent with the Lions, but I don't think he was drafted.

Hard to tell what that meant. Was it throwing to hit 3 moving targets and that's it?

I like that Cutliffe had gotten HCMMs QB a spot here the last two years. I look for Sefo to be solid. Klatt like but with more ability.

Not sure that Cutliffe really had anything to do with it. MacIntyre met with Peyton Manning personally at an event here in Colorado and because of their familiarity and family's history Manning personally extended an offer to HCMM for Wood. Maybe it's a standing offer now.

Isn't McIntyre a friend of Eli manning from the ole miss days? I thought that was where the relationship was.
