Who is the 2014 version of Addison Gillam?

Who is the guy who comes in here, totally unheralded, and just blows us away?

I'm hearing some great things about Jase Franke and Christian Shaver. I haven't seen either of them actually play, but from most accounts (including Slider), these guys are just tearing it up. Gillam last year was a guy nobody knew about until he just started killing it in practice. I remember stories like "Who is this Gillam kid?" I'm hearing some of those same things now about Franke and Shaver.

Any others?

I would think Franke base on practice reports

I have this sneaking suspicion that little mac surprises all of us though.

I don't remember anything about Gilliam until the csu game. That would be ridiculous for another true freshman to duplicate his impact

Good question...

I'm going to go with the hometown kid, Evan White.

I distinctly remember practice reports on Gillam, saying he was a freak and was just everywhere making plays. I didn't put much creedence to those reports because we had heard stuff like that before. Conrad Obi is a name that will haunt me for eternity. The greatest workout warrior and practice field phenom in the history of CU football.

Might be Evan White on the defense. Dude keeps making plays. Physically ready and making more INTs than any of the other DBs in camp. Opportunity with Bell going down.

I'm hoping its one of the receivers, perhaps Bobo, but I have no evidence he will deliver. Just watching those highlights Spiff posted from last year's CSU game makes me miss Richardson, and we really need an offensive play maker to fill that gap.

I have my eye on Lindsay. Has not played in a game yet, but drawing raves. Phillip has a great respect for Colorado, and tremendous respect for his parents and family history in sports. He sure looks like a baller in practice! Soon enough..... :plot:

This. although everyone already knew my vote :smile2:

I don't think Bobo counts. He had a certain level of hype when he came in. Not that anybody was predicting he'd be a superstar, but he seems to be living up to the expectations we had for him - which is that he's a solid receiver.

I'm looking for that guy who wasn't on anybody's radar. The guy we signed, but nobody really cared about. JMac falls into that category. I think Lindsay falls into that category. For sure White falls into that category. I don't remember any hype on him at all when he was signed, and he's reportedly doing very well in a secondary that has a lot of talent. He's a good candidate.

The easy answer is no one.

(Saying more about Gillam than bashing the new guys)

Travis Talianko. Both Mac guys. A need with Bell injured. It just makes sense.

This would be cool, kind of exorcising our demons from the Hawk error to cleanse us with the football gods.

Derek McCartney. Would be huge for us and one hell of a nostalgia story too.

man, you have been out of the loop. Talianko moved to LB.

I am resigning as a Buff insider and sticking to being a fan.

I will still pick him. They seem to like his ability and outside of Gillam there are concerns at LB as far as ability goes. Solid guys but no studs outside of AG.

I hope it is, and he is going to have the opportunity to be.

With Bell going down to injury safety is going to be a questionable area. I don't have a lot of confidence in Terror as a starting safety back there.

Moeller is also going to get an opportunity to play a lot and we may see one of the corners (Chido) swing over but White is going to get his shot as well. Either one could make a big impact.

The belief in Jay Mac is kind of incredible to me. he looked so tiny at the scrimmage and I didn't catch any plays by him. Why do people think he is going to make a splash? I see him redshirting

he seemed solid, but I'm not sure what he gives us over the older guys. I want him to redshirt, but partially to ensure that if Mac finds success here he stays a bit.

I'm hoping it's Linday, though he isn't "totally unheralded". We have good running backs, but they lack explosiveness which I think PL has.

Put me in the Lindsay camp.
A nod goes to Witherspoon, too.

I'm also looking at Chidobe Awuzie to blossom and steal some of the limelight.
