You mean the girl that didnt press charges until her UF Law School Alum relative made her right before the post season and once Winston was a Heisman finalist?

Regardless of what was alleged, their was no proof to proceed with a trial. There was no evidence to convict him. Winston was never formally charged. Now, that being said he is a dumb ass and he should have a handler at all times. In this case, the gator was charged immediately following the incident. That is why the team is taking such rapid action.
 
Maybe they have taken some lessons from the NFL's errors recently but in the current climate they had no choice.

Recent NFL cases have shown that these things aren't going to just "go away." The way you minimize damage is to confront them head on, and don't give the public reason to question your motives.

Unfortunately if it turns out that the player was not quilty he will still carry this with him for the rest of his career but that is simply how it is right now. On the other hand if he is guilty then nobody can accuse UF of trying to hide it. It will give them more credibility in the future if there are cases that aren't demanding immediate action.
 
If a player is involved in a sexual assault allegation on campus, he's got to be suspended. If he's later cleared, the NCAA should give eligibility back. But a university has to take that action.

fwiw, seeing a lot of comments from people around UF saying that Treon Harris is not someone they would have thought would have been in legal trouble for anything. I'll give him the legal benefit of the doubt, as is proper in this country. But I don't think he should be representing UF as a football player right now.
