Power brokers

Some things never change.
At least they have only one voice and can't have complete control.
The politics involved in it all are ridiculous though.

But we will always have CU to teabag though!

Looks like a typical Monday for old Blackshirts, a veritable volcano of anti -Buff flotsam and jetsam.
Your week on Allbuffs should start on Tuesdays dude.

For a multitude of reasons, that move made the most sense. All of the Big Eight schools were in the Central Time Zone.

Hmmm ... that's news to those of us here in Colorado.

I don't understand why, 11 years later, the formation of the Big XII is still such an issue, particularly for the bugeaters.

Because it started their gradual slide into medicocrity.

Too bad we didn't take better advantage of that.:sad1:

I thought that was Frank Solich's fault. No, wait, Pedersen's fault. No, Callahan's fault. :smile2:

Isnt this rich? Let us not forget that BC is 2-1 versus your boys, both wins in convincing fashion.

Convincing fashion? Last year was by no means convincing. It was far too obvious that the game was won by a few trick plays and horrible officiating. Granted kNu won, but the game was a whole lot closer than the score would indicate. The year before is a different story.

Ok, so it was closer than the 37-14 score, more like a 14 point loss or what? NU wore CU down and by the start of 4th quarter it was over. I give the CU players alot of credit for the way they came out for that game though, they just didnt have the horses.

Power brokers: How tagalong Baylor, Tech crashed the revolt

A really good article on the formation of the Big 12. And how the fuskers were and still are whiny little bitches.

Yeah, I know a lot of Fuskers who hate UT as much if not more than Cu because of that. Poor little Fuskers had to give up the Prop 48s which they relied heavily on for years and tougher academic requirements. It's not coincidence that the Fusker program has declined since then.

Geez...I hope you know a different definition of the term "teabagging" - the one definition I have heard about involves something associated with Oklahoma sucking and Nebraska swallowing :wow:

No this version is the one where BC rubs his fuzzy walnuts on the chin of ole Hawkins!

Aggy's new AD is NU's old AD. After getting so thoroughly pwn3d during conference negotiations, and the inferiority complex that then developed, collie station is the perfect home for him.

Texas wanted desperately the academic patina that the Pac 10 yielded," recalls Berdahl, who went on to serve as chancellor at Pac-10 member California-Berkeley. "To be associated with UCLA, Stanford and Cal in academics was very desirable."

Still, expansion in the Pac-10 depended on unanimous approval of the member schools. And Stanford, which had long battled UT in athletics as well as academics, objected. For UT, the way west never materialized.

^^^ What I wouldn't give for that... I've heard in the past that Pac-10 was floating the idea of inviting both CU & UT, as both their academic & athletic profiles fit well. That would've been perfect, imo.

That rumor has been flying around here forever. For those of us who don't live in California, it's widely viewed as the stupidest idea EVAR.

Is this the world traveler, American, knower of all?

Wow. I really did say that. Well. Ummmm. Yeah. OK.

In all seriousness, I think my reasoning was probably more along the lines of thinking it would never happen, thus it's a stupid idea. Just the same, that quote is kinda funny. I'm certainly no longer of that opinion.

I'm just a dork about conference alignment/expansion stuff...

Wasn't trying to embarrass anyone. Just interesting to look back with hindsight is all.

at the time, I agreed with you.... Texas couldnt assert it's douchebaggery yet.... they were just beginning that process...

things change...

I saw it the way you did and changed my mind when you did....

Ah, memories.

Husker fans sure were bigger pests back then.

I don't miss that pusspot called Blackshirts.
