It is completely obvious to me now.

We need a new Quarterback. Plain and simple. We need a QB that can thrive when opportunities present themselves. Several times during this game the QB had opportunities to make a play and/or make a smart play. One QB in this game did and the other didn't.

I know I am going to catch the ire of some here but I also know that some of you agree with me. I have had this feeling for a while now despite his stats. I know we are probably stuck with him until he graduates, mostly because we can't get anyone better to come here. So I will root for him to succeed as I would any other Buff.

This loss really, really hurts.

go buffs.

I think the 4th quarter, sans interception, begs to differ. He directed some good drives resulting in scores and he is the best passer and leader we have on the roster. Is there a QB currently in high school or at a Juco who could unseat him from the 1st game of next season? I'm not sure about that. And if there is, he's not coming here.

Sefo gives us our best chance to win of anyone we've got and we're sticking by him going forward. There are plenty of problems that need to be fixed but there is no solution that will lead us to wins quicker that involves replacing him.

I would like to see Sefo's stats on third down.

Also this staff went down another couple notches today. Mind bottling calls in the fourth and OT's.

Excllent. I hope the path to that better quarter back is also obvious to you

we need a good running QB some for option plays. I think Gherke would've gave fUCLA some pause and perhaps opened up some options for for yards. I dont mean replacing Sefo, but using Gerhke for some trick/option plays

No, he made a huge mistake at the end of the first half, and yes need to stop but led some good drives after. Chicken bleep play calling at the end of regulation and OT lost this game.

The staff has to play it pretty close to the vest, given the pedestrian level of talent it has to utilize. MM totally out coached Mora today, but MM has mostly a lower half Mountain West and Big Sky levels of talent to work with and he has coached many of them up. If Hundley is a draft choice then so is my 89 year old Mom, but outside of that UCLA has really good athletes.

I know he is the best we have now. That is why he is playing. And I didn't say he was horrible. He just doesn't win. I know we have many other issues, I'm not an idiot and I didn't just start watching football yesterday. Who knows, maybe it all comes together his senior year but we need a QB who can do it more than one year.

Um, recruit a better one? I am not the one getting paid six and seven figures to fix the problem. I am just a frustrated fan, who probably should have waited for his emotions to calm down before posting. All I know is our Defense put the offense in a position to win the game...finally! And the O failed. I also lay a little of the blame on the O-coordinator.

Oh well, another 2 to3 win season. This is getting unbearable. But I will stick with them as I always have since 1976.

Hundley is 100% a nfl draft pick

He is the best we have right now.

But can we really afford for Sefo to be "the guy" for the next two seasons? That is the big question. I sure hope so, but he has thrown INTs in seven straight games now. That's not a fluke anymore.

His situational awareness is bad.

That last 30s of the first half pointed that out profoundly. If the coaches can't call a play, it's up to him to snap it and put it in the ground.

That said, I don't know how high his ceiling really is. Never going to be a game changer, but he can get better.

Until we land someone better I'll be rooting for him. He did some things well and others not so well. He is what he is

I agree with the OP. Everyone on here's in love with Sefo, despite some pretty glaring issues. Of course, I don't know what we can do right now, but I agree he's not the answer for us at QB. I love his heart, though. It just seems like he's not dependable when we absolutely need him. I remember hearing about a month or so back that Sefo has a hard time throwing to his left. Not throwing on the run to his left, just simply throwing to the left side of the field. That can be a problem.

I'm sure he's a great kid and he definitely is the leader on offense, but he's not winning us games. It's sad to say, but many times he's the reason we are losing.

Sefo is a true sophmore, read that again if you don't understand it.

He is a guy who was looked at as a developmental guy who was forced to come in as a true freshman.

He has good talent at the recievers but has little help from the TE position and the running game is inconsistent at best.

All this with an offensive line that is getting better but is still getting dominated against most of our opponents.

Sefo looks to me like a QB that has been hit to much. His throwing motion looks like he is throwing with painful ribs, as many solid shots as he has taken I would be shocked it they weren't bruised. He is also reacting like he expects to get hit at any time.

He isn't great, at times he can look bad, but he is the best QB we have had since at least Klatt and I think will turn out better than Klatt was.

Sefo is not the reason we are losing although he has his share of blame.

He has started over a full year's worth of games and got all the reps with the ones in the Spring and Fall. It's time for him to stop making so many dumb decisions. He is going to finish this season with the most INTs in the conference by far. Blaming it all on youth and the players around him is getting tiring.

Sefo has made too many mistakes that have killed drives and caused ill advised turnovers. He was completely incompetent at end of first half. And he needed some nuts in OT that he didn't have. Rushed that pass to Jones when he didn't need to.

Yes. Disappointing. His accuracy deserted him today. Wr didnt provide a lot of help though

Sefo has had multiple opportunities to step up and deliver in games at crunch time, and he has failed. I sure hope he is the guy, but I have doubts.

We are very slight and inexperienced in the WR department and we don't have much at TE.

As I said at the end of my post he has his share of the blame. He isn't close to where he needs to be. The lock on INTs are getting old and at other times he gives up big plays simply by failing to let the play develop.

That all said we don't get better by starting Gerhke and with the supporting cast I don't think most of the PAC QBs would look good on this team.

And his protection sucks pond water. Bernardi needs to get his crap together or be gone.

I'm not saying it is all Sefo's fault, but I think it has reached the point where we need to stop treating him with kid gloves. That 4th quarter INT was atrocious.

Sefo has heart...The staff has determined that he is the starter. They must think he gives best chance for success. I hate picks and poor decision making as much as anyone. I would suggest that O-line play and OC play calling contribute to mistakes as more than Sefo's talent level. Lindgren has called many many questionable plays during his tenure as OC.

Your TE comment is correct but WR isn't to blame. Most QBs would kill to have a Spruce, Fields is young but has shown he can play. Bobo and even Lee are starting to come on. Oregon State would tell you that McColloch and Goodson aren't terrible either.

Sefo is the best QB we have had in a long time. I think he is better than Klatt, but he makes young mistakes that hopefully he grows out of. Remember, Klatt could have been a 35yo member of allBuffs when he started.

While better QB play would have won the game, he's a sophomore with limited offensive weapons and a lot of upside. This is a team game and the squad is showing a lot of progress.
