Today's Crowd (oct 25, UCLA)

I know that most of you jackasses are mired in negativity and depression, but I thought that CU had a great home crowd and atmosphere today. For a team with only two wins this season, the attendance today was solid. And the students showed up for a noon game. In the 4th quarter the crowd was as loud as I have seen it in quite some time. And the "student body right" move in the first overtime was a sight worth seeing. The students actually groked what needed to be done, and moved their butts. Of course, there can be no positives for most of the rest of you, so I am ready to be told how wrong I am.

And, what a beautiful day for football.

Groke is a verb I'm unfamiliar with.

Groke is a verb I'm unfamiliar with.

From Wikipedia:

Grok /ˈɡrɒk/ is a word coined by Robert A. Heinlein for his 1961 science-fiction novel, Stranger in a Strange Land, where it is defined as follows:

Grok means to understand so thoroughly that the observer becomes a part of the observed—to merge, blend, intermarry, lose identity in group experience. It means almost everything that we mean by religion, philosophy, and science—and it means as little to us (because of our Earthling assumptions) as color means to a blind man.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines to grok as "to understand intuitively or by empathy; to establish rapport with" and "to empathize or communicate sympathetically (with); also, to experience enjoyment".

Sold crowd. Lots of people were leaving at the end of the third. They missed a hell of a great quarter, minus that awful interception.

It was fun. This team is fun to watch again.

Lost my voice in the fourth.

In OT when the students bunched into toward the north end, I thought about how incredible Folsom can/will be with the whole stadium looking like it did there.

We may not be good, but the people showing up today know their **** about football. I was sitting in shade aim the south end and didn't think about moving until I saw everyone else moving. Too bad I didn't take video of it. A great site to see.

I was annoyed when folks didn't shift to the south for the 2nd OT. Why the hell did everyone stay where they were and leave that end zone empty? This is where "Folsom Frenzy" and other students need to rally people to get moving.

I was at the 20 yard line. Wasn't going to move. Not sure why people didn't go closer to the action.

You are hard to please! Pity for your wife :)

She doesn't really have to move for me to end up pleased.

Fun game. Folsom Frenzy is working. Most of the students were out of it for 3.5 quarters. You still hear the "Do you want to leave at the end of the?......" Slowly changing. Everyone there was involved towards the end

Those were just the ones in blue.

YOU'RE MY BOY BLUE!!!!!!

Sorry. I figured you wouldn't get it.

Thanks! FIB posted a picture of a character from Old School because his name is "Blue" and your were talking about the color blue. Also, Blue is really, really old and so is FIB.

Crowd was disappointing at the start (as usual few people in their seats to see Ralphie and team enter), but really amped it up once we got back in the game. We had everyone standing and screaming for the last few defensive series. So tough to keep losing these close ones.
