CU SMU Scrimmage

Opposite of what RK posted. Plus without knowing who was playing when in terms of lineups not sure you can take much out of it

That thread is from last year, the word on rivals is we lost between 4-8 at their place. Even if it's a scrimmage, losing @ SMU's place by 4-8 is very encouraging news as they're projected to be a very good team this year.

Please don't start this losing is good news in the basketball forum too! I hope that was a ****ing joke.

Better than last year and SMU is probably better than last year.

I don't really care about the score in a scrimmage, but I do want to know that our team was able to deal with their pressure.

Results sounded mixed on that and Tad's got some work to do on reducing turnovers. Our front court and rebounding are dirty, though, from the sound of things.

The turnovers are going to be what continually worry me until proven otherwise. Ski is prone to forcing things and trying to make up an 8 pt deficit in 1 possession, and things can get sloppy. We'll see on friday!

As go our PGs, so goes the team this year.

It's really that simple.

Gee, what insight!

The same can be said of virtually every college team in the country. PGs rule in college ball, cuz AC's are much harder to find.

Please, please, please PLEASE let Dom get healthy, and fast.

I really, really hope this program has evolved to the point where we don't need an incoming Freshman to make a difference. I'm as big a fan of Dom as anybody, but I'd really rather not depend on him to be a difference maker this year.

That is definitely a football mentality. Freshman can be huge impact players in college hoops. If he is the stud that he is rumored to be, then I am looking forward to counting on him for big minutes and big plays this year.

When you sign a Top 50 recruit in hoops, the expectation is that he will be an impact player.

Dom is likely the most talented player on our roster.

Dom also does the things that translate easily into playing time. He is a great defender and distributes the ball. Boyle will want dom on the floor based on defense alone.

Yup. I think we are at a point as a program where we don't NEED these guys to instantly produce in order to be good... but if we want to reach the next level, we do NEED them to be impact players, when we get them. Otherwise we will be mediocre.

Dom's ankle injury really hurts his development for this year though. He's going to be playing catch up all season.

Probably shouldn't get too worked up about a scrimmage one way or the other.

Back to 0 and 30.

Ha. But no.

Honestly, I just am nervous that it may be a year where we see flashes of Dom, but don't get the full package because he's a bit behind. Remember, he's already having to adjust from CO 4A HS basketball. I wanted him full speed for non-con so he could get his feet wet before facing the UCLA's and Arizona's of the world.

Hopefully XT grabs the starting spot by the throat and refuses to let go. That makes everything better.

I am hoping for that too. Really easy to root for XT. Need him to perform at a high level this year.

4A as in Colorado basketball is not that good? East was 5A.

why does it seem like the expectations and discussion in the basketball boards is so much better than in the football boards.

****. Stupid Mondays. Thanks, rep to you.

I saw him play against Highlands Ranch in the sweet 16 last year and although HR wasn't as good as they had been the couple of years prior they are still a good program. Anyway, that was the game where they were tied at the half and dom scored 23 straight points or something like that and I have never seen such a relentless defender in high school before. He was all over them and got a couple transition layups.

I'm seriously giddy about his D. Seeing him already doing it in practices is huge. My only concern for him is offense right now. I really wish we had a Nate Tomlinson to his Spencer Dinwiddie this year. I'd love for him to be able to get serious minutes without having to run the point full time. Hopefully XT & JHop can help with that (although neither are nowhere near Nate's level - kid is seriously underrated).
