Would you give Tosh Lupoi a second chance to coach DL at CU?

He is interning at bama.
Does he have too much baggage to give another chance at coaching? He was lights out at recruiting. Maybe he was cheating, I dont know. If he is shading Mac would stay away no doubt; but, if he broke a recruiting rule set by the joke called ncaa, and is otherwise a clean guy, he would be a huge boost to our ability to recruit top athletes.
that situation would be awesome, 1 or 2 recruiters could be all we need to right this ship. Most everything else is in place.

i'd give him a 1st 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th chance to coach at cu, but A he isn't coming and B i don't think mac would bring him in anyways

I doubt Mac would bring him, and no sure he gets players that stay in school, but he would shine pretty spectacularly here compared to the other recruiters. Not likely at all.

Did you say "cheating?":hmmm:

If they can bring in a great recruiter they should make an opening.
We could even move Nienas to a non coaching assistant role like Lupoi is at Bama

Abso-freaking-lutely. Only a fool would be in MacIntyre's position and not recognize his Achilles heal of a weakness in recruiting.

And we all know you want criminals! Go root for the SEC, they only have two rules: 1) There are NO rules! 2) See Rule No. 1!
When responding to a clearly extreme post, it is best to one-up the extremism.

What has he done to prove himself? I know he was responsible for some great recruiting pickups at Cal and UW, but were their DL's that good when he was there? I don't remember their defenses being good at all, or getting better. UW was awful, and got worse while Tosh was there. Cal?

Certainly, there were more than a few implcations that he was cheating. But that doesn't bother me so much as I doubt he'd do it again, and I really doubt he'd do it if HCMM hired him. But it does the question whether he'd get the same high profile guys.

Actually, the Washington defense got dramatically better in 2012/2013 after Wilcox and Lupoi were hired. From 108th in scoring defense in 2011 (one spot above us) to 39th in 2012 to 29th in 2013.

CU couldn't rebound from a manufactured scandal, not sure we would want to push our luck and bring questionable character into the fold. Just my humble opinion.

Yes I would. Would our Dline get worse? Would our recruiting get worse? We need a spark.

I think the money it would take could be more wisely spent on a couple new assistants.

I don't see a fit with HCMM and the current staff, but you can't deny his past success recruiting the west coast.

Tosh has his pluses and minuses. We can find someone less controversial and probably better at coaching.

Recruiters are like shooting stars... They burn out fast. Tosh has burned out

Sure, I'd be fine with that too. Some of our coaches, not all, are not pulling their weight. Can MM get land an upcoming assistant where we are now? I'm a bit concerned we can't get someone that's on the fast track given where we are and where we will be next season.

You may be right. There may be better coaches out there for CU. But; why would it take that much money. He is not coaching right now. We would be giving him a chance to coach in the PAC 12 again.

With all due respect guys, you need to spend some time looking into Mr. Lupoi and how things went down with Cal. It wasn't just underhanded - it was some of the sleaziest stuuff I've ever seen, inside or outside of college football. There are probably 1,000 threads on Tosh on Bearinsider. Here's one:

http://bearinsider.com/forums/showt...-came-back-3-times/page5&highlight=Tosh+Lupoi

Bottom line you'd be marginally better off putting a rabid mongoose in your underwear.

I think we'd be down with sleazy.

I don't think Tosh would come here or that Mac would want him here. And I wouldn't be all that excited if he was hired. But, scanning the first two pages of that thread only, my impression is a bunch of Cal fans were pissed that Tosh left and took his recruits with him. Shady, but far from the "sleaziest stuff I've ever seen."

Assuming he (and RG) sees that as a weakness of his, would he fire or demote someone to make room for a great recruiter? I don't see it, but hopefully RG will be assertive here.
