Broncos show off new practice facility....

Classy
While the Jets locker room that the Broncos used during the Super Bowl had so many burnt out bulbs Conway asked a staff member at one point to count them (it was about 20 - they were told at least 30 had to be out for it to be worth the effort to replace them), the Broncos Field House has all LED lighting that should last 15 years.

I'm surprised they built anything. Heaven forbid billionaires invest their own money into their own business. They are so used to the stupid public paying their expenses so they can reap the profits. The best scam going.

Yeah - that's true Jens.... I just think it's interesting how much money colleges have to put into facilities now compared to how much more utilitarian pro teams are.

Of course, there´re exceptions and, of course, they´re located in Texas. Cowboys are currently building new HQs as part of a 2-3 billion construction on a 91 acre site in Frisco and their indoor facility is going to hold 12k.

Pro teams aren't nearly as dependent on recruiting (free agency) as college teams. And free agents are generally interested only in two things: 1. Money and 2. Winning. NFL teams don't need all the flash and gimmicks. They only need something that works.

Pros aren't recruiting 18 year olds. Nice facilities may be impressive to free agents but the contract figures and depth chart mean more. If you are drafted you have no option.

I've been to the Jets' facility in New Jersey. Super cool, modern, sleek.

By the way, that part of New Jersey is way nicer than I expected. I expected all of NJ to look like Newark, but that's not the case. That said, Newark is probably worse than I expected and my expectations were low.

I also took a selfie in front of Tony Soprano's house. Very nice neighborhood.

I'm sure everyone cares about my field trip to NJ.

Pro teams can be cheap.

I'm remembering that scene from Moneyball where the Oakland A's were making players use a coin-op vending machine to buy a beverage in the club house.

It's a completely different animal. It can make a big difference for pro teams when it comes to attracting free agents or retaining players, though. Some do things like provide companion tickets for wives to travel to away games, for example. Others wouldn't think of adding that kind of expense.

Listening to reports from the Bronco's first practices in their new IPF almost made me jizz myself considering how awesome it will be for the Buffs. Especially hearing guy's like Manning say how much better the new IPF is compared to the bubble. The sports radio guys were exclaiming how awesome it was that they could run all the drills they run outside whereas in the old bubble they could only do portions of the outdoor practice.

And yes, I did say "jizz myself."

Say it again

It´s spelled Raiders, Nik. Not others. :)
