For all practical purposes, our basketball week runs from Monday thru Sunday.

To tip things off, we have:

157 basketball games on Friday. Another 39 on Saturday. Then 57 games on Sunday.

We can talk about them here.

CU games will get their own thread.

The battle of the Pitinos (Louisville vs. Minnesota) should be interesting. Minnesota isn't bad.

#9 Hoos head up to JMU tomorrow. Should be a romp, but you never know being on the road in-state. Perrantes also out for this one.

Virigina Tech could possibly win a game. There's a Buzz in Blacksburg!

I predict WSU @ UTEP is the only Pac loss this weekend, although Portland State could give USC a run.

I'm impressed Grand Canyon got Kentucky to play them.

jcatcher onto something -- I think best shot at a top 25 upset is the Gophers over the Cardinals

Wisconsin will start 2-0 with their usual non-conference schedule of low ranked teams that'll come to the Kohl Center. We won't have any idea if the Badgers are real until Duke comes in December.

Maryland-Eastern Shore is about as bad as it gets in D1. Something very wrong if VT doesn't win comfortably.

Georgia at Georgia Tech is one I'll be keeping an eye on to scout the Dawgs.

Some of the better games:

Tennessee at VCU (4:30, CBSSN)
Georgia at Georgia Tech (5:00, ESPN3/FullCourt)
Minnesota at #8 Louisville (5:30, ESPN)
NM State at #11 Wichita State (7:00, ESPN3)

Opening night, so a lot of cupcake cities. CU playing one of the toughest opponents of the night with the Drexel game.

Auburn is hosting Milwaukee (good test) on ESPNU at 6:00. Remember to set your DVRs.

true, but, yeah, there's something very wrong with finishing dead last in the conference back to back years:bawling:. I'm loyal but pessimistic.

VT's recruiting sure has picked up, which is rather "interesting".

As a Wisconsin Alum, I follow the Badgers closely. They are real. They lost one guy off a Final Four team and he wasn't that important of a player. They are really good.

They actually are kind of a mirror image of the Buffs - Great coach who stresses defense, a dominant front line with an NBA center, an athletic wing, and a bruiser at the 4. A PG who has great heart and a knack for hitting big shots who can make you tear your hair out at times. Also a deep bench. I'd love to see a game between these teams.

**** you. What, we can't talk about the ACC on the "other games" thread?

I used a smiley for a reason.

fwiw, I've got the ACC near the top of my conference ranks this year.

1. B1G (I'm sick of having them #1, but Wisconsin + about 8 other teams that could Dance makes it impossible to go against it)
2. ACC (high end of Duke, Ville, UVA, UNC is unmatched & the middle's going to be better than people think)
3. Big East (best top-to-bottom, but lack of elites... don't quite trust Nova)
4. Big 12 (KU, then a very strong group in the middle and upper middle... I like this conference a lot and could have put it higher)
5. Pac-12 (Arizona plus a strong middle)
6. SEC (I'd have them lower if Kentucky wasn't incredible)
7. AAC (great at the top)
8. A-10 (I like VCU this year, but almost went with MWC because of SDSU... A-10 won it on the next tier)

ACC is ahead at the top. B1G likely has an advantage in depth, as you say. Not sure who I'd put first until I see some mid level teams from each in action, but 4 ACC in top 9 is hard to beat.

I follow the Badgers also (hate not getting BTN w/ DISH package). I'm excited and agree they look good! re: Brust not being that important of a player -- he led the team in minutes, was the #2 scorer and #3 rebounder last year -- we may have to disagree on that point.

either way... FUCjK 'EM BUCKY!

My hate for Buzz Williams will grow exponentially in coming years. Already considered him a douche.

he's already at 'douche' with a projected exponential hatred increase -- how long until he hits 'enema'?

Two words: Bronson Koenig

Wisconsin shoots a lot of threes and Brust understood that that meant a lot of long rebounds. He had a knack for reading the trajectory of a shot and setting up about 8-10 feet from the basket. Dude got more uncontested rebounds than anyone I've ever seen.

Duke 113 Presbyterian 44 Final

Jesus.

You don't get the B1G network with the Dish sports package? I do. (as well as Pac 12, SEC, and 3 ESPN channels ... used to be 4 but they got rid of ESPN Classic).

Adidas managed to make Louisville's uni's worse, other than the armed forces tributes of course. Added a big diagonal stripe to one side of the shorts for no apparent reason. And still have the V-neck undershirt look for the jersey. Adidas is the worst.

Worst loss of the night so far seems to be Mizzou losing at home to UMKC. Ouch.

Ole Miss also fell to Charleston Southern.

SEC already proving it is dog****.

And, as usual, we'll get to late April and there will be a bunch of crappy SEC teams below UK and UF whose RPIs are getting some bump from playing those guys while pushing toward 20 wins against a crappy conference slate. And ESPN will be talking them up over teams with similar records, less awful losses and better RPIs from other conferences.

Good one on CBSSN right now.

Navy is within 3 points of Michigan State with 2 minutes left.
